I used to be 38:26:38 so not at all shop clothes shaped.  That went south after a "geriatric" pregnancy but I'm still curvy.    Possum's not shop shaped either and has finally realised it would be good to be able to sew.   This frock has princess seams and a dropped waist so is a good shape on her - and me.

It'll be something with darts next and then set-in sleeves and she'll be fine for a few months.   More lessons at Xmas.

She's still refusing any interest in gardening but did manage to keep a window box of herbs going nearly all year in Namur.  I'll get her yet!

I can't see you needing to know about princess seams @Hostafan1 unless you're thinking of making a wedding dress for one of your daughters one day..............

May I ask advice please on a bit of a dilemma? I recently won a beautiful bagged and boxed set of foot toiletries from the White Company. If I opened it to use myself, I just know that most of the creams/scrubs would end up just sitting there for months, if not years.  I was considering whether or not to give it to my DIL for her forthcoming birthday (she's a jogger) but do you think she might take umbrage? I would hate to upset her (I have done so accidentally a couple of times in the past). Should I tell her I won it? I checked online and it's not available now.

I would tell her and get her a small birthday present as well. It would be awkward if she found out.

I like princess seams on dresses, they smooth over bulges nicely. I used to be 35 24 36, those were the days, 2 stone heavier than that now and waist has thickened after 4 babies and one was a big one, 9lb. In fact, I'm just off to town to get some printing done and I saw that my favourite dress shop has a princess seam dress in a different colour from the one I bought in spring. Been hard to find in the last few years and dresses of a suitable length for those over 27 in France.

They are rather more petite than we Brits aren't they @Busy-Lizzie.   I tower over most of the ladies at patchwork group, even when wearing summer flatties.

I'm inclined to agree with BL, @Lizzie27, or just give her it as an extra and be upfront that you own it, and thought she would make better use of it.  :)
Liri - I hope you're drying out. Floodwater is hideous. I'm fortunate that I've never had severe flooding in any property, and I always think it's worse than a fire.
The painted ladies are apparently on a 'once a decade' surge. I hope we get some evry year now though. When I came back from my walk, there was about ten on the outside of the buddleia, and when I came in the back gate, it set off a cloud of them swirling around. Must have been thirty at least. Just beautiful. I sat on the bench with a cuppa, and three came and kept me company.  :)
Some deadheading done, and planting out of a few little things, but the rain is back on, so in for some lunch.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Sorry @Liriodendron.  Got distracted.   I hope you're drying out OK.  Just being damp is bad enough without being flooded so I hope those lower down are OK too.

We have had 2 2-minute showers.  I have banned t'other pair from commenting as it clearly frightens off the rain.  Getting quite windy.

Rain subsiding here now from the forecast I thought we were only getting the odd shower not a whole mornings worth. I need to lift the 2nd early spuds now before the slugs get at them!
Back yesterday eve from Suffolk this time my big sis (well older) bought us a trip to Helmingham Hall with Perennial (used to be the gardeners benevolent society). We got a chat from lady Tollemache then a tour with the head gardener. Lovely place hard to believe they manage with such a small team. Went to Beth Chato's garden on the Sunday & stayed in Suffolk overnight so we had an easy run Monday morning, I think we had the best of the weather this week.
    Regards to all.
