I guess with council green waste it is probably composted well enough.
And also there are probably people who garden and do not know what it is, or at least initially. Not everybody is a gardener who cares to know what the weeds or plants are, and are blissfully unaware of any legal obligation there might be. So they may well unwittingly dispose of it in what seems a perfectly reasonable manner.
Oh here's a conspiratorial thought It probably gets killed off by all the things like lawn clippings treated with weedkiller thrown in the green waste recycling... Said with tongue in cheek.
There are prettier Polygonum type plants with large leaves and markings and better flowers these days.

Exactly. But if it's possible to compost it commercially then why are we insisting it has to be sprayed with toxic chemicals at great expense? I understand that it need to be cut and transported very carefully but it's here to stay now and it has plenty of potential for compost and biofuel if dealt with correctly.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
And how would you stop seeds going everywhere? This wins my prize for silliest idea today.
JKW doesn't set seed in this country. We don't have any male plants apparently.
You learn something every day! Just looked it up and doesn’t look as if there are any in France either.... what I was thinking of was another slightly less invasive variety.
I had that idea too. If I were younger, I would grow it to be a rebel and to scare neighbours. I guess I am old now.
But I would still consider growing a nice and tidy bedding row of dandelions in my front garden. Or maybe I am too old for that too, I am not sure. But at least, dandelions are atractive, JKW is not.
