Isn't there a system for reporting fraudulent claimants?   Would shopping her make it worse for the kids?   How old are they now?
The kids are young and it could certainly make the situation worse for one of the kids as her partner is only the parent of the younger one.  He would have no rights over her if they split and her natural father isn't interested.  He was supposed to have her every other weekend but regularly makes excuses, at the last minute, not to.
The reality is, the mother is so good at basically conning people she would probably sail through any investigation.
I really just needed to vent at a system which is so badly flawed that the genuinely needy are often failed while those who know how to play the system come out on top.

It was ever thus but you'd think they'd train the people concerned to spot the wrong 'uns better.  Fine line tho between helping them and not helping a deserving case.

Apropos of nothing I wish to specify, do you ever sincerely hope that Darwin was right? Sometimes it's the only thing that keeps me moderately sane😵

Very - and my laptop is being taken away for repairs either today or tomorrow. Boo hoo, I shall be lost without it! Still, at least we've got an ancient desktop, I shall have to try to prise my OH away from it.

It is a truth universally known to home cooks that it is physically impossible to make only a small amount of cold slaw ... yet again I have produced a large mixing bowl full although each time I make it I use progressively smaller amounts ... in fact by now I should be making a negative amount 🤯👩‍🍳
