    Not just me then ! I was trying to listen to Carol Klein in the Floral marquee (or whatever it's called). The music was a. too loud and b. completely unnecessary.
    I can sort of understand music being used for shots of the gardens, close ups of the flowers, wildlife, but when no one is speaking.
    Monty was doing a piece about the various gardens and all l could hear in the background was the crowd. I suspect the producer is trying to create an atmosphere, but l found it totally distracting.
  • What I hate most of all is the background foreground music, which plays for no apparent reason
    Hear-hear! (so to speak).
    @&& point??!!

    As an aside (maybe it's just me) but did anyone notice in last night's Chelsea, how Joe Swift was being quite antagonistic toward Monty, as they closed the show? I know it's tongue in cheek and Monty handled it very well, but it irritated me  ;)
  • Argh, my GW isn't working! Trying to post a comment as a reply to Damp Garden and Alan Clark, but only 1/3 of it appears...

  • Couldn't agree with both of you more! I loved being in my old garden, because it was a tranquil spot away from the noise of a busy city, which is why it incensed me when *them next door* played gangsta rap from morning 'til night, windows wide open, sometimes with the stereo in the garden. What's the point??!!

    Haha!
    On my screen, it only comes up once, however  :)

    Nothing new there, my wife and I notice it every year, Im not sure if its very friendly micky taking as you can do with some very good friends, or a genuine tension between them, but its apparent every time they are on screen together to me

    I was going to raise the same point, but I'm less inclined to accept that it was said 'tongue in cheek'.  Joe Swift is consistent in one thing, he will always try to demean anybody who likes 'traditional' gardens, be that formal or cottage.

    The whole of the BBC coverage is a bit o.t.t for my liking but they have to fill the hours and hours of coverage with some clever comments just to break the boredom I suppose. I'm sure some people love the coverage and watch every programme so there's no harm in that, after all it's a big event every year and it does provide employment for lots of landscapers, plants people, tent erectors, celebrities ,A,B and C, and of course presenters.
