Spoke too soon. Our stormy and downpours on Tuesday have faded to a dribble on Wednesday. I was very much looking forward to everything having a good soak.

At Last Internet and phone back on after well near a month!! Nice man from Orange came and sorted it out. Too great delight in telling us he was pleased to come as he could practise his English. He had taken lessons as he had hoped to go to UK on holiday this year. Lovely man and a keen gardener so we had lots to chat about. Would not let him out of house until he had made certain everyting working properly again!!!
So life back to normal. The Garden Fair at the weekend was a nice gentle affair. Visitors were down because they all had to asow their 2 Vac proof passes and not everyone had had second Vaccination, so quite a few turned away at gate. Any unmasked (and there were a few) fined 135Euros on the spot. The police carried Bankers Card Machines with them..so no excuses for anyone. All my favourite plantsmen there but I resisted buying again as so much to catch up on in garden and many things to move and split. Looking forward to Festival 1001 Legumes at end of month with our lovely holistic Gite and many dear friends to pal up with to discuss biodynamics etc.
Well I have loads of flowers on the melons but no fruit so that was a waste of time. Watering frantically as although storms forecast Thursday.can't wait that long. Water Butts nearly empty. Lifted last potatoes and pleased with crop as they were from my own seed. So far have defeated Cabbage White butterflies by disguising Brocolli babies under Sage Bush. Caterpillars have gone berserk over Turnip tops instead which is great because there are alot to keep them occupied!! Cats are fine. Have clubbed together to attack neighbours dog which looks suspiciously like a Pitbull and is no longer a puppy. Thank goodness they are moving at the end of this month. Tree surgeon came round yesterday to give quote on chopping Leylandii to half height (14 of them along our boundary masking our satelite signal) They tower over our roof ..Will have to get the approval of the pigeons nesting there first!! We have a lonely male pigeon at the moment..his beloved was munched by a Sparrowhawk as per Obelixx and I feel sorry for him alone on the Silver Birch branch every morning.
8/9/10th September Root Days. Lift all root crops as you need them or store them away.
11/12th September Gardening not recommended as before 4.10pm on the 11th Moon perigée and after 12.30pm on 12th Noeud descending. These are Flower Days though so between the hours mentioned no harm in splitting and replanting Lily of the Valley and plant some acid loving shrubs.
13th September sees the return of a Leaf Day Start blanching Celery for 2-3 weeks before harvest. Plants some Conifers (Leylandii not recommended!!)
My 40 Day Peas have grown on well from seed popped in last week..might grow them on in greenhouse. Telegraph Peas are flowering as are the Broad Beans I took a gamble on. So far so good. Just so so pleased to have technology back even though I am the first to admit I prefer pen and paper plus a phone that works!!!
Yesterday morning the forecast was for 12 hours of stormy rain from midnight. By late afternoon this was reduced to 6 hours. By dawn this morning we hadn't had a drop and it's still bone dry. Storms are passing well to the east.
Back to watering then.
We've finally started harvesting tomatoes in bulk so lovely tomato salads being consumed and I have a big pot of them reducing down to make passata. Loads of lovely blackberries coming ripe, still a few strawberries, our first pears this year, brassicas and Swiss chard coming along nicely. Dahlias are abundant and very healthy and loads of assorted pumpkins ripening.
Need to check the recently planted beetroots and brassicas are OK. Far too warm still to sow pak Choi and co. 37C yesterday!

@biofreak , hello ,currently on holiday in Tenby , our Tom's & cucumbers are about finished, still lots growing at allotment when we get back. Dahlias have been fabulous this year , not been able to dead head them , just to many . Glad the cat gang protected your garden from dogs. Weather has been getting colder but Currently fabulous , not sure how long it will last
Yes delighted...Now need a new computer.. my oldie can't take the strain of this new Fibre connection stuff. I am using Windows 7 as warned against Windows 10 . She (the computer) is now 11yrs old!!! The prices are dreadful though and not logical to me as I only want to do emails. Far too busy in garden and baking to want to handle all singing dancing machines. Still don't know how to answer mobile!! Just get message and phone people back..No idea what to press. Raining today ..picked more blackberres to make essence for cake flavouring. Wonderful crop in our hedge this year. Crab Apple looking sad, my fault I let Squash climb all over it. Not a happy tree!
OH has an Acer Chromebook which is cheaper than a full blown PC and lets you do emails and internet. Have a look at those. Windows 10 has largely been fixed and is probably cheaper for your purposes than getting tied in to Apple systems.

Thanks for info. Never have used Apple. Will take a look once Fairs are over and I have more time. Just made Pear and Blackberry Cookies. Kitchen smells good. Raining!
