What are jostaburys?  And did you see the beautiful Crescent Moon hanging over the rose pink sunset on Wednesday? Stunning. Clear nights here have given wonderful starry Nights to gaze at .Here is the Lunar Calender from 19th-28th December.
19/20/21st Dec..Moon ascending in Aquarius. Flower Days..Sow under heat Begonia Semperflorens and Pelargoniums (As opposed to Geraniums)
22/23/24th Dec. Moon ascending in Pisces so Leaf Days. If no frost which will damage exposed stems, harvest Spinach and Winter Salads. Indoors sow some sprouting seeds and Cress. No gardening recommended after 11.25am on 24th as Moon apogee.
25th Dec..Fruit Day. In mild areas sow Broad Dan's and Round Peas as opposed to Wrinkled under cover or if outside ...Fleece well. Bear in mind risk of Mouse Attack!!! They just love the pea seeds just as they shoot,..Even in he greenhouse I lost my crop last year. Broad Beans untouched though.
26/27/28th Dec..Moon ascending in Taurus so Root Days. under cover sow some Radish and Short Stem Carrots together. Fleece even in greenhouse to protect from chill. On the 28th no gardening recommended after 9.55am as Noeud Ascending.
Will speak before Christmas so Happy Gardening!

Very cloudy wet and miserable here but hope to see something in the West tonight. Planted Shallots and Tulips yesterday as lovely day. Van back from Garage today with new Turbo..So Xmas Market tomorrow/Xmas Eve and Boxing Day. Looking forward to seeing friends and clients. Then just the two of us as usual Xmas Day---Wonderful to have peace and quiet and I can get those Broad Beans in. The outdoor ones are doing really well but I like to have a 'back up'
Do hope Tier 4 has not affected any of you in UK. O/H just got back to France in time.
    Happy Gardening.
  • Oh yes we are in tier 4 but we had already decided to abandon Christmas gatherings with family  so it makes little difference at the moment.

Hello all , we are in Tier 3 , however , we thought a long time that we would be have Christmas on our own , which will be the first in about 30 years or more but I’m actually looking forward to it 🥂
Going shopping tomorrow for fresh stuff and for Elderly Neighbours
The couple next door have had there Covid-19 vaccine  yesterday , hopefully by next Christmas it will be a lot better

Bio , hubby lucky , according to the news , France 🇫🇷 has closed the Ports to / from UK🇬🇧

I'd have thought your hubby and you too should be self-isolating @biofreak if he's just back from the UK.

Too cloudy and wet here to see the planetary conjunction or do any gardening.   All the garlic is now showing thru but none of the shallots yet and none of the broad beans either tho it's been warmer this last few days.  I have weeding to do in the flower beds and still some bulbs to plant but not when it's this wet.

Our only outings are my weekly raid on the SM and CAVAC for chicken feed and straw.  I do a suitably distanced delivery of fresh eggs to 3 of our neighbours in turn about once every week or so but we see no-one else and go nowhere else.

I prefer to use local businesses but have ordered a heat mat online as none available here.  Planning to use it for an early sowing of chillies in January.

    Hi Everyone
Well, we're nearly there and this is just a note to wish you a very Merry Christmas despite all the hiccups. O/H had Covid Test when he landed at Dieppe --Negative HURRAY. I have to admit that I was a bit worried and have booked another test for him whilst I have my Check Up in Lille on the 28th. Finished Christmas Food shopping this am (Oysters/Scallops/Lobsters etc) and ready for Xmas Farmers Market tomorrow (Xmas Eve) and Boxing Day. Great atmosphere at Xmas Market yesterday with wonderful best wishes from friends and clients pleased to see me again --I was about 4yds from anyone and fully masked and gloved!!!
Wet wet wet in the garden but all seems well. I am going to sow Broad Beans on Xmas morning now that I have cleaned the polytunnel out and there is space! Never found any Holly but Packs of seeds and Bio & Lunar Calenders are tucked under the Xmas Tree (Thank you Obelixx Chiltern Seeds arrived safely yesterday). Bought lovely Christmas Candle this morning to light tomorrow. Covered with glittering stars and moons and tucked in a lantern so safe from curious cats!!
    Happy Christmas and Happy Gardening.
  • Thanks and best wishes to all from me too.
