Hi Obelixx AAAAAGH!  That wind looks evil!!! Watch out the hens don't get blown away as well!
I agree with you re Wormery think it is more of a gimic plus very very expensive to buy 2Kgs Bags (Yes 2Kgs only!!!) 15Euros!!!!! But I do like to keep the Forum informed.

Going outside now to batten everything down. Beautiful calm afternoon no trace of wind yet. Cats sunbathing on garden bench having been mousing all morning -Not moling I note! 2 of my 5 weeks is intensive care apparently and not allowed anything at all to take into isolation unit!! Think I shall go a bit stir crazy without my animals and my garden. Still they say I shall get a really bad dose of La Grippe as a reaction plus 40/41c temperature so probably won't care anyway!!! Last 2 weeks OK just have to stay 30mins from hospital in hotel or apartment in case I have a seizure. They won't let me come home because we are 5hrs away and it has to be Lille hospital only. Anyway thank you for your best wishes--Much appreciated. Supposed to be 100% successful against Lymphoma and that's what's keeping me going as Chemo has not worked..

    Happy Gardening.

Bio , glad to hear it’s going well for you

Well---That was a humdinger last night. All calm until 3am when cats blown indoors wet and bedraggled!! Obelixx are your hens alright?? Have cancelled Crazy Nettle Fair Sunday as this storm is supposed to be around Normandy all w/e. Glad I picked rest of Runner Beans last night as flattened this am. Still some tomatoes left in polytunnel but picked a nice bowlful yesterday a temps dropping so not many more to ripen and not enough to make chutney. One little apple (the only one on new tree) clinging on for dear life in the middle of the lawn!!! Moles stayed underground -no hills this morning. Have a good time in Swindon GWRS, can't be easy not knowing who is being locked down where. We have not had a case of CV since May in our area so life normal apart from masks and gloves at all times obligatory. Other parts of France not so lucky but mainly down south.

Take Care. Stay safe and Happy Gardening when we can get out there again!!

Pleased to say no storm just rain
Went to local pub last night , how things have changed , table service only , wait to taken to a table , have to either give contact details or use a smart phone with NHS trace App and use the QR code displayed
Also they prefer payment by contactless credit/debit card

    Stay safe

The only thing I miss from UK is a good pub!! Although we pop to Jersey which is only an hour away for a taste of home. (Even that is not allowed now -No sailings) Yes, things have changed alot.
Inundated with Seed & Bulb companies emailing me to order discount lines, things must be really difficult for them too, because when you add postage it really isn't worth it. I am keeping my own Scarlet Emperor Runner Beans back for seed as that is the only thing I have trouble buying out here (With a good taste), not sure when we shall get to UK again with isolation in place there. Still you had good company with the family and that is the main thing.
Cats back outside as wind has dropped, 2 voles and a shrew deposited on terrace already!! Just looked at G/World how to grow garlic, which reminded me that I must pop some in. Certainly worked with an October planting - Nice fat bulbs, and I do buy supermarket ones, but then I am in the right country!!!!

The storm seems to have given us a miss - certainly not as bad as forecast and it's calm and sunny now tho heavy rain expected later.   The hens are fine thanks @biofreak tho they didn't agree with being putto bed early last night - we leave at 7:15 to go to dance class and don't get back till 9:45 which is way too late.

I need to go and buy more straw for them this pm and will look for garlic.   I don't buy SM stuff as I like to be sure it's virus free.  Never grow runner beans as I really don't like them but I'll be planting broad beans soon, and sweet peas to get a head start.

We looked after a friend's hens one Summer had to wait until 11.30pm BEFORE they would go in. No wonder they (the friends) were delighted when we offered!!!!
Never had trouble with garlic here although I do go the Bio route and sometimes buy direct from producers a couple of strings when they come up to do the markets in the Summer. Happy shopping!!

We had a tornado last night!  No damage in the beg plot that we can see other than a teeny rip in the plastic where the polytunnel door was blown open but we no longer have a roof on our two barns.  See Forkers thread for photos.  Impressive.

It missed the hen house so the chooks are OK.

So glad to hear from you Obelixx, just seen horrific news on French TV re: Alps Maritimes -No wonder they called the army in. Southern Brittany hit hard plus Landes on high alert re floods. Not alot happened here. Were you OK GWRS?? Understand high alert floods in UK?
Sowed Broad Beans yesterday despite Moon apogée (should reaad my own notes!!!) plus made flower bed around edge of Potager as instructed by O/H and had tea outside!! Beautiful afternoon contrairy to forecast. Raining on and off this am. Glad we did not do Crazy Nettle Fair although at a pinch we could have done as no gales. Still one just does not know what to expect when they give out major warnings.

    Stay warm and safe!
