Garden girl. I started sowing afew weeks ago and lost most of the seedlings when we had snow so will start sowing afresh this week .

I' cheated and bought 10 tomato plants and two aubergine plants today. Potted up about 20 chilli/pepper seedlings though and will sow cue seeds for the GH.

    Happy growing everyone

Watering has been my task now for the last week or so, spring drought is becoming the norm 😟. Delighted to find that 2 rows of parsnips have come up, these have had a cloche over them since sowing and it's made all the difference. The beetroot were done multi sown look very sad, they haven't got going since planting out so I'm going to sow a row direct.

Weed killers and insecticides are banned at our allotment. We have a beekeeper on site and the honey is excellent.

I have used my new coldframe as a cloche over my carrots and beetroot, sowing a second time after the seed leaves appeared,  its working well.😀

Also planted some shallots grown from seed
Perpared another bed for cabbages and played a Pumpkin under a cloche

It's all you can do sometimes @GWRS I have my spring onions half outside half in the greenhouse, they just couldn't wait.  We are now nearly two weeks behind in planting in the greenhouse,  and the poor things need to get in there!

Good day at allotment , pleased to say they are quite sheltered , unlike at home just watered garden & g/h and it’s freezing
Prepared another bed for planting out and general weeding , the soil is like dust
Pleased to say the sprout I planted are still alive but well protected , however , asparagus tips have been caught by the frosts , should have fleeced , never happed before
    Watered

We've had three mornings at the plot now.

The letter about renewal of tenancy came so we had a discussion about it all and whether we wanted to keep it or not considering everything that's happened.

In the end we decided to give it a go this year, as we were set to lose a lot by leaving. The boys are so happy there and we've been enjoying it too.

We've sowed a lot of seeds in trays at home while we'll take over at some point once they're potted.

Today we did some more clearing, I dismantled the "play area" fencing as they never wanted to be in there anyway, and used it to fence off the wildlife area and polytunnel. Stop the boys just running into the pond unsupervised and hopefully it might put would be thieves off a bit too.

Lots of critters in the wildlife pond!
