Made it to plots yesterday,  I have brought the last 1/2 sack of stored spuds home. Went through the stored Apples very few are still usable so had to discard most. Managed to burn some prunings,  glad I got that done before the rain set in.  Nice pickings of PSB, so some good news.

Usual Monday morning visit to the plot decided to start digging an area that was getting weedy as we have had a few dry days, argh darned wet weather's back just when there's so much to do.

Far too wet for anything here. Even though Thursday was dry, ground was saturated. Rain off and on all day yesterday.

Blood fish & bone sprinkled on raspberry beds

As ever lots of other little jobs done
  • Hardening off the second batch of 9 broad bean plants ready for going into the plot. I say plot because it’s smaller that an allotment area we have. Valerie

Sowed leeks and tomatoes, sungold, Shirley and marmande. I planted out 10 shallot sets that have been growing in the greenhouse also planted out a row of peas, they are both under cloches. My greyhound cabbages are really motoring now, kale is sprouting nicely, spring onions just emerging, radishes coming on well, spinach is coming up. Only 1 red cabbage has shown itself so far, I had no luck last year either so think I'm doing something wrong. Everything is in seed trays or plug trays nothing is down outside just yet.

Cabbage 🥬 , we now buy the plants from local G/C rather than try from seed
Seed was never really successful for us

@gwrs my green cabbages are going well soon to prick out, the lone red cabbage is sulking, I couldn't part with the money for cabbage plants.

Planted onion sets, broad bean plants, some peas and sowed some carrot seeds.

I pulled up the mizuna which had burst into flower, not sure I'll grow it again as nobody else liked the flavour. Spread compost on the former leak are which is destined for kale.

I have leeks, spring onions, kale, cabbages, Pak choi, and turnips all in plug trays growing nicely
