Also , just getting the odd tomatoe ripening , however we do now have some cucumbers 🥒 growing nicely in the g/h
went to plot at weekend , courgettes are come on stream , picked some yellow & green French beans
Need to pull up broad beans , absolutely loads , o/h blanched some for freezer
    Harvested other bits as well

  • I said I'd update on the string trio concert at our allotment that took place yesterday. It went really well, the weather kept on improving during their one hour set which helped.

We got 60 audience members, both residents and allotmenteers which made for a great mix.

At the end in lieu of flowers we have the players a veggie box that was made up from donations from across the site.

Our collection for the Alzheimer's Society also went really well. Nice to see lots of happy faces and had lots of requests for more events 🙂

A few photos to give you an idea, our players were: Naoko Keatley (violin) /Anna Bastow (viola) / Jennie Brown (cello)

    So glad it went well.
Long session today,  dug charlotte spuds,  only got 1/3 of a sack, from a full row.  Others on site finding the same. Did a lot of strimming.  Then harvested everything I needed.

@amancalledgeorge , that what I like about visiting National Garden Scheme gardens , they always have fabulous homemade cake , not that I have visited any since covid started and the garden are usually good as well

  • hubby just got himself half an allotment and has been clearing weeding and digging. but just had an email from the person who runs it to say someone had striped all the currants from one plot.and a couple of weeks ago our friends had all their strawberries.our plot is number 1... people walk past the allotments to take their dogs for a walk in fields.must admit it's put  me off..anyone else have this?

@the tidy gardener , pleased to say no , but our allotments are in between farm fields but have heard about this problem on an allotment web site but seems rare

Many years ago we did have some vandalism but our association installed Blue tooth battery CCTV and have had no problems since

Would let this put you off thou

  • our house backs onto the allotments and we can see our plot from a bedroom window.its not put him off tho.he says he'd like to try unusual fruit or veg?!
