  • Alicante, they were just the medium sized ones, but they were the best matching ones. Its been a good harvest from them, with alot of large green ones left to ripen, I don't know if its been the growing season or the fact these seeds produced a potato leaf variety ( which I haven't had before) but they have done well.

How do you freeze them is it straight from plant? - picked some today but loads left all red
cold day today had thunder hail and lots of rain - got the gutter up the other day over chicken run roof - no waterbutt yet (free ones in garden) but did get a bucket full with water

  • We had the lightning here too.
Yes just washed, dried, remove the green bits and bagged up.
Didn't try this till last year ( after was told it could be done on here) They are only good for sauce or soup, but as that is what I would do with them anyway it gives me time in winter to do a batch. I just cook and sieve them, then cook down to the consistency I want and add other things at that point, works well @Gardengirl..
  • @purplerallim Harvested 4lb of tomatoes washed and dried and put some in freezer 2 bags and all the split ones in the fridge - still lots left on the plants think this is the best year for me growing tomatoes
Also havested cucamelons, cucumber and a big cauliflower - had for dinner with white sauce

  • Wish I could grow cauliflower,  but brassica and onions don't do well for me.😊
I agree its been a bumper year for toms. I've picked over 250 from a dozen plants (yes I do count) which is about 24lb of fruit, but sill have half the Roma yet to pick. The Cucumbers although late to start have done well too, and there is a few waiting to be picked to make soup.
  • Just been out and planted our new Concorde pear.
Multiple pots of lasagne bulbs topped off with pansies.
Cut down the french beans after picking the last handful.
Then did more sorting in the greenhouse, a few more tom plants finished and gone ( with a 3lb bag of green tomatoes to give to neighbour) but still have four Roma and three Cucumber plants to finish yet.
Thats enough now going in as cold, windblown, and hungry. 🥶🌬🍽
