I have discovered that if you leave ground elder to get to flowering it pulls out much easier!   (I only discovered this by accident)😀

I know the feeling Lyn! Lots of my garden is the same after all the rain this year, and other events prevented me from getting the early start I wanted.
Many of the outer parts are just planted with things like geraniums and also ground elder, which gets everywhere, but is just as pretty as any other umbellifer and non gardeners would never know :) At least it has the merit of  overpowering all other weeds, so you only have the one to deal with!

That’s so true, with yellow buttercups interspersed standing proud at 2’ tall!
ive had a good go in what we call the Horseshoe bed, the photos join at the little pink plant,( carnations) far right of the 1st picture.   Under gardener will pick, chop up and compost everything I leave on the ground. Bless him😘

@Lyn that looks fantastic! Just the kind of planting that I love (but struggle to achieve on with sandy soil and a lot less rain than you get).
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I’ve had to come in now, achy and too hot, I’m not getting baked in the sun for the sake of the garden. Coffee and tv for now.  May do a bit this evening.
The soil is lovely here, acid and soft from loads of compost every year so well draining.

Beautiful garden, @Lyn. Can appreciate what hard work it must be to keep it looking that good!
