Veggies prepped for supper - potatoes for roasting peeled and sitting in salted water, squash peeled and sitting in olive oil and chilli flakes, broad beans picked and parsley picked and chopped, chicken has been massaged with garlic, thyme and olive oil and sprinkled with seasalt and pepper.  Bread dough is proving and will go in the oven in about half an hour, the kitchen is clean(ish) and all I'm going to do now is sweep the floors ... then the day is mine to play with as I wish ..........

That sounds yummy Dove. You are obviously a talented cook.

Nutcutlet's garden looks lovely - it's a pity we're so far away, I'd love to see it.

We're very fortunate as she lives near my MIL so we've visited several times ... it is beautiful and full of interesting plants and flowers, as well as lots of wildlife.

As for cooking ... I like good food ... Ma was not a good cook ... I taught myself in self defence and I've had a lot of time to practice since ;)

Bargain at garden centre as the Acers were incorrectly labelled! Didn’t even need to make a fuss. 🍁
Right, I’ve just pulled a ton (slight exaggeration) of ivy from my front garden wall but had to dash in from the rain - better finish that now and the council bin can have all that.

    We've had a busy weekend.

Took birthday pressies for 3 small grandsons to Son 2 on Saturday morning. Went to a 50th wedding anniversary party, friends, on Saturday evening.

We had a lovely day at daughter 1's yesterday. Lots of her roses are out, but not all. They've grown so well in the 2 years that she planted them. I've decided on Ghislaine de Féligonde for the Cottage in Norfolk if it's still in stock at Peter Beales Classic Roses. They have it at the moment. We had a good lunch, marinaded prawns on garden spinach followed by trout.

We've been to the GC this afternoon to get a present, an alstromeria, for the friend whose birthday party we are going to on Wednesday.

Just been stuck in the GH because of very heavy rain, then OH arrived with a big umbrella

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Springwatch taped, along with about 100 Chelsea episodes to be caught up on once Middlemarch has been conquered 😜.  Sounds like some lovely weekends have been had.  Great to hear LilyP beginning to feel a bit better too.

We’re just back from a weekend of cycling in Holland .....had a fantastic time.  Based ourselves in Dordrecht - a gorgeous old town - and did day trips from there.  One up to Rotterdam, Delft and Den Haag, and another to The Biesbosch (a wetland area reminiscent of the Norfolk Broads).  And today we noodled round countryside spotting windmills. Mr C got his planning a bit awry on the first day, so we did 61 miles .....I was done in by the end 😮.  Found a very friendly pub, that did great food, so that was our evenings sorted.  Het Engels are a bit of a rarity in Dordrecht, so everyone was really happy to chat to us

Good to know it rained in Norfolk, Dove, my plants will be happy.
