    Lilly Pilly,
Peony seeds can have double dormancy. They often take a long time to germinate. I had some germinate a year after I threw the contents of the pot out as a dead loss after a year.  I advise you to sow individually in a pot of garden soil, leave outside in a shady corner, and check occasionally. The ripe seeds are like shiny  black marbles about pea size. There are often a lot of flat seeds in there as well which won't germinate.

you have saved me a lot of work!

Yesterday, Senior SIL and I weeded the new fruit bed (bindweed with twisted and spiraling roots heading for China) and planted rows of strawberries.  Just need OH to mulch it all with his own chipped bark, preferably before ordinary weed seeds start to germinate.

Today, they have gone to a historical themed park thingy (Puy du Fou) and I helped catering students at a secondary school cook their British recipes to be served in their restaurant - not the school cafeteria but where punters pay to eat.  12€50 for a good 3 course lunch.   All free today tho as we helped cook it all so the kids could practise their English and learn new recipes.   It was great fun and we all ate together afterwards.

Lovely kids, all 15 and 16 and all happy and enjoying their work.   Great atmosphere.  After lunch we Brits then listened to same age kids from the European studies section do presentations on recent work placements.  They're doing accountancy and marketing and such.  I don't remember school being that much fun or so practical.

Getting cool again.  Set to go down to 4C early on Sunday and just 1C early on Monday.   Yikes!   Indoor BBQ tomorrow then.  We've met someone here from Worcester who was on the school rugby team with BIL, would you believe, so have invited him and his wife round for lunch.   Better go and sort out the desserts then before BIL and SILs get home and want feeding.

LP - hope you're doing OK.  Shame about your peony seeds but a good save by Fidget.

Hope everyone is warm and having a good time or getting all the hugs they need - especially Pat and Mr Pat.

OH's step daughter, her OH and the 2 GCs are coming tonight for the weekend. The fridge is now full to bursting, the family won't go hungry this weekend.

We went to Tesco, such yummy things in English supermarkets. Also it seems much cheaper than France, I never spend as much as I expected. Bigger choice of veg. But 2 things are better in France, tomatoes - pink ones, green stripy ones, yellow pineapple ones, all different shapes and sizes in Leclerc. Also strawberries, Dordogne is a strawberry growing region and there are lots of varieties. I bought a joint of lamb, half price in the butcher counter. Full price would have been cheaper than France. But the nice lady butcher told us that the meat and fish counters are closing next week. Everything will be packaged on the shelves. Such a shame I thought.

    Still grey, cold and drizzling.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Sainsbury's had put their lamb prices back up - surprise, it's a Bank Holiday weekend - cynical, moi?

OH had a friend to visit with young un's in tow so I escaped to the allotments, dry most of the time but rain showers finally drove me in about 5pm.

Evening everybody. Another Bank Holiday weekend is here.
I wonder what difference it would make to everyone if we didn’t have Bank Hols?? I wonder if things will change one day??

Wouldnt make any difference to me ... I’ve retired 😆 ... and as OH has a part time retail  post based at a garden centre he’s often working on bank holidays. 🙄

The only difference is the amount of traffic on the roads.
