“Covered in”, Graeme? How small is your garden? Though I acknowledge with a small child you have to be aware of the hazard and in this case the cats’ intrusion is a problem.

Like you, I think AnniD has perfectly summarised the debate.

I suspect if Chris Packham survives the death threats from tackling the shooting enthusiasts his Wild Justice group will soon have to face tackling the free-roaming cats debate. I wish them all the best but when you're dealing with people who think that taking responsibility for their own pets in a nonsense and that stray cats are too cute to be controlled then they may find that particular dead horse isn't worth flogging. :|
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

@Sabeeha If one of your neighbours was offended at you trying to prevent their cat from using your garden as a toilet that would say a lot about that person
    You are right of course

@Picidae my garden is approx 10mx10m and i was lifting up to a dozen turds some mornings.... theres obviously a lot of cats about my area for it to be that bad...

My next door neighbour has gave up tidying her garden now and it has cat s*** all over it, everywhere you look.

I have stuck one of my sonic devices on her side of the fence to help out.

I have put this in before and in another post earlier today, I use dilute human urine, and I mean dilute, it has proved effective in our garden and in others I have told, agreed after rain it has to be redone, but it does reduce cat numbers, we have a bird friendly garden so cats are definately a no,no not welcome.
  • 40+ pounds for cat deterrants? That is not cheap solution.  And there is no guarantee that they will work.

But then cat droppings problem is quite serious issue for health and hygiene of people with gardens.

I assure you there are many people who would be happy to spend a lot more than 40 quid for a proven cat deterrent.
