KT - didn't watch the whole thing so dunno further details but at least they tried.

Joe Swift has a gold medal but I find him unpalatable so tend to FF except when he's talking about design.  Not plants.  He's lost with plant care but he can do design.  I used to thenk AT - another gold medal winner - was the bee's knees but since he went all Lovey on ITV I canna thole him either.

I like dogs and cats and am happy to see them in a garden programme but not when, as Hosta rightly says, there are more close-ups of them than the plants.  I need more plant names on screen too please.

I agree about more names (and not just the latin) , also conditions they like and how hardy they are made more of . The plants also need to be available widely not so special that they are impossible to get.

Yes to more plant names for me too, when the camera lingers on a plant, how hard would it be to flash up its name?

I couldn't believe it when he planted so many verbascums in what looked like a fairly small bed and very shallow soil - he'll be sorry!!!!  But I did notice that there weren't so many shots of the dogs this week - perhaps he reads this forum.

As for palm oil - Dove is right.  Home cooks don't use it, industrial food processing dose.  It also goes into bio fuels, soaps, detergents...........   I saw a fleeting bit of Greg Wallace's programme on supermarkets and their secretes which was explaining about Iceland's drive to eliminate palm oil form their food by 2020
I admire Iceland's stance on removing palm oil from their own brand products, but they did shoot themselves in the food when it became public that they had apparently rebranded some food where they couldn't replace the palm oil for some reason.
What's wrong with using good old fashioned Lard? I have been reading that it's not as unhealthy as first feared. It could be used in meat based products only for example
meat pies if manufacturers wanted to keep non meat based products vegetarian.

I agree totally about both of them.  AT is also doing 'Secrets of the National Trust' which should be fascinating.  Unfortunately he spends so much time sucking up to the people at the property it ruins it for me.  At least he shouldn't have to worry about his hair going grey with his head being so far up people's derriere it should retain plenty of brown colouration.

Pity about Adam Frost presenting next few GWs as I cannot stand his voice but he is obviously popular with others. Maybe I could put subtitles on and just turn down the sound when he is talking
Don't think I'll bother watching montys American gardens when it comes out.  Gets me why so many programmes have to be America this America that. Even the springwatch series went to america

I love Monty and enjoy his style of gardening, so will be very sorry to see him go, if that is what is happening. However, I do feel its probably run its course and look forward to seeing the development of Adam’s garden and another gardener’s style and approach.

I know reduction of plastic waste and community garden schemes are both important, but GW is getting very repetitive and preachy on both topics. I would much rather see more in-depth features on plants, but expect I won’t, whoever the presenter is...
Monty is only going the the US for a couple of weeks to film a new series (as he stated in last night's GW). The new series will probably be along the same lines as his 'Japanese Gardens/Italian Gardens/French Gardens'. He also said that will be back in two weeks time.

I have never warmed to various gardening presenters including Adam Frost, as I like soft, easy going presenters like Monty. If I had a choice for a new presenter, it would be Charles Dowding who is teaching everyone about organic no dig. I have no idea if he is a medal winner, I just like him and attempt to follow what he does. I am sure all the presenters are lovely people in real life though.

Touché, Yviestivie, well said! I know he's blocked me, but quite frankly I'm sick and tired of his moaning.
