I found another 70 vine weevil grubs in pots today :/ A few were pupating but most were still at grub stage. I think I found the pot that was Patient Zero for my infestation anyway. A gift from the in-laws... hopefully the few that pupate into adults now will be mopped up by hungry creatures before they can lay any more eggs.

Some people feel short changed if, having seen their doctor (after a considerable wait) they don't come out with a prescription of some sort or another.
As one who has had a very nasty finger infection recently which simply couldn't be dealt with by anything other than antibiotics, I can understand the angst.  That said, I self diagnosed, tried home remedies (magnesium sulphate) and then went to the pharmacist.  It was their recommendation that I had to see a doctor asap to get it resolved.  But it was not my first port of call!
Too many, it seems, want instant answers, instant medication etc.  It is only occasionally the right answer.  imo.

Another 45 grubs today :s  One plant was looking really healthy but I noticed a side shoot dying off so lifted it out of the pot. 25 vine weevil grubs in one small pot and the plant managed to survive. I must have caught it just in time.

Well on the bright side I haven't lost many plants and all the bits I've saved have rooted well so I've actually ended up with more plants than I started with. I'm more irritated about the time I've wasted having to take all the pots apart and pick through the soil to find every last grub. I've sieved and rinsed all the soil out to reclaim the grit too which took even longer. At a busy time of year I don't have the time to waste on it all.

Called our GP surgery at 8:30 to make an appointment.  Actually got straight into the queue and only waited 10 minutes to speak to somebody.  Explained why I need the appointment and told a doctor will call me back.  Nearly 6 hours later still waiting for the call.  I did chase it after about 4 hours to be informed that they have over 300 patients to call back and they have no idea when I will be called!
