  • Wow they are beautiful roses, I especially like Bonica.

pink roses are some of the best and always seem to look good in every situation.

Although now I’m gonna want 1 or 2 of these roses haha!!
  • I adore roses and this time last year we were planting all my new roses.  My previous garden had Champagne Moment which was lovely, Cecile Brunner all over the front of the house which everyone commented on (shame about the non repeat flowering) and Generous Gardener which I thought was a bit heavy for a climber.  New house/garden and changes.   I spent absolutely ages choosing them, it's a very serious decision for a rose lover like me and in the end with a short list I visited David Austin gardens to make my decision.   They all look to be doing well this Spring and I have spent hours feeding them all today.   I settled on Tranquility (bush off white), Susan William Ellis (bush white), Olivia Rose Austin (standard and bush pink) and also Lady of the Lake (climber pink) and Little White Pet (dwarf).  Pleased with them all so far and hoping for a good show now they are established.  Goodness the Susan William Ellis is thorny.  Tranquility had a lot of black spotted leaves but did not affect flowering also a bit droopy but hopefully stronger this year.  Lady of the Lake pretty flowers but took a while to get going.  Little White Pet fab as was Olivia Rose Austin, excellent rose that one.  Just spent hours feeding them all.

  • That’s like me @Voyagerxp before last year I only had 3 roses in pots but now I have at least over 30 but close to 40 now mostly planted in the garden but several in pots also.

Im only 22 so still a young gardener but it took me a few years to properly get into roses and realise how good they actually are to grow in the garden.

Daniel.... for a 22 year old you're doing pretty good.... I had no interest in roses until I hit 34.. so you're way ahead of me...

Voyagerxp… love your list of roses... I've got a lot of those and grown at least 12 of them... great to see someone with 'Fruhlingsmorgen', this has the most perfect single flower form, like porcelain... it's a pity its season is short, but if you have the room I think it's the best of the 'Fruhlings' [Spring] series...   great choices..

    pottering girl...
Delighted to have you as a member of our 'Rose Club'...  'Olivia' is reckoned one of the best David Austin roses out there... it's become very popular in other countries too for its health and freedom of flowering...  I don't have it, but I used to have 'Tranquillity' until I had to remove it due to building work on my  property... it has the most exquisite blooms and I thought they were nicely scented too..

'Tranquillity' on an obelisk where it will reach 5 or 6 foot easily..
The pink rose in foreground is 'Thomas a Becket'...

I've just brought Eustacia Vye, its a new David Austin rose but i have my eye on Gertrude Jekyll, Lady Emma Hamilton and Charlotte. I've never brought from Peter Beales, are they any good .

Oh yes, Peter Beales Roses are famous the world over, in the rose world.. .although they're not quite the same as they used to be due to change in ownership... there will be one or two others I look at first, depends what I'm after.. but their roses are generally excellent.. I especially like their potted selection during the summer...

  • Some nice choices their @Voyagerxp, I bought Gertrude Jekyll and lady Emma Hamilton last summer and I love both of them although still very young plants for me.

And @Marlorena I think 22 is generally a young age to get into gardening but I’ve been doing it a few years and at the beginning I just thought a rose is a rose simple as that whereas now i know it’s not as basic as just a rose haha. Now I’m getting quite a big interest of roses.

ive never been to Peter Beales or even bought from them online so have no idea what their like but I know they are very famous for roses so would be good to visit and judge their roses for myself!!
