Count me in too! I have upwards of thirty now, about a third will be coming into their third season this year and the rest are younger. Me and roses are just about getting the measure of each other.

I’m looking forward to seeing three newly planted roses for the first time - Absolutely Fabulous, Wild Rover and Gruss an Teplitz, plus favourites like RD Braithwate and Lady of Shallott. I’m also hoping the Albrighton Rambler I planted three years ago will finally take off as its been a bit lacklustre to date.

I have had a couple of blooms from Lady Emma Hamilton already, in respose to a very warm February, but we are still getting ground frosts here and they sensibly decided to go back into hibernation.

Oh goody, lots of lovely roses...  I shall start a thread in a couple of weeks, in case some of us have early bloomers fast off the blocks... we need to know about those...

Just noticed this morning, Lady of Shallot, Golden Celebration and the new and still very small G an T all have tiny rose buds already forming... given we are due -3 tonight I think they might regret it!

  • I'll probably join the rose celebration as I've planted seven bare roots this season...they seem to be doing really well.
    My varieties are:
    Zephirine Drouhin x3
    Scepter'd Isle x2
    Rose des Cisterciens x1
    Reine des Violettes x1
And receiving a La Rose de Molinard tomorrow...have been bitten by the rose bug properly.
Also add two prepotted Desdemonas...fingers crossed I can look after them as well as they deserve.

  • Will take a while to have as beautiful a show as yours @Marlorena but it feels great to have so many of them. A garden always feels empty to me without a few roses. Will get snapping once I plant them in the border in a month's time.

George.. thank you... but have no fear... even this sort of thing is worthy of a photo where roses are concerned...  at least for those of us who obsess about these things..

  • I’ve just bought another 3 roses from David Austin haha. Couldn’t help myself.

i picked Emily bronte, the mayflower and fighting temeraire  all Bareroot so I’ll need to get the planting areas ready soon which will give me something to do.
  • I save the soaking roots photos for Instagram  :D@Marlorena
