Oh gosh, Instagram... I'm afraid I didn't last long on that.. but I do check out Michael Marriott quite often... @michaelrosarian …   and I followed The Teddington Gardener's blog, but unfortunately he's not been well lately and is taking a break from it... can only wish him better..

Incidentally, I think it was you George that asked about 'La Rose de Molinard', a beautiful French bred rose you have obtained... this reminded me of the German ADR designation which is something rose people should take more notice of I think...

That rose won the ADR trial, a 3 year trial in Germany, and only the most healthiest roses win it... very few British bred roses win that trial for one good reason..  In the UK we have one black spot strain, in Germany they have 4.. so when an ADR winner comes to UK it only has to find resistance to one other strain, but when a UK bred rose goes to Germany, it has to find against 4 new strains... a tall order that..

In Europe and N. America there are 13 strains of black spot.. the UK strain is no. 11 on the list... Germany has no.s 2,4,6, and 7...   A couple of roses readily available here that are ADR winners would be 'Joie de Vivre' and 'Champagne Moment'... I have one in my garden called 'Armada' bred by Harkness Roses.. released in 1988 it won the ADR in 1993... a rare thing...   needless to say it has exemplary health..

There is one rose called 'Brite Eyes' that is resistant to 12 of the 13 strains of black spot, but is only available in the U.S... so far..

'Armada'... a climbing floribunda rose [Harkness, 1988]

Interesting, Marlorena, thank you for this info.

I have Joie de Vivre, it is the only rose in my garden which stayed healthy last year. It is very compact rose (50x50cm rounded shrub for me), perfect for front of border, the colour goes well with most things. I wouldn't say I love it but I certainly like it, it ticks many boxes for a good garden plant.

    Last year, 30th October.

Good to see that rose edhelka, thanks for showing us here... I've often thought about that one as I see it sold a lot...  and not a blemish on the foliage...

I could love it if it were more scented, the scent is light to medium, it is there but nothing to be excited about. Also, I am not a fan of the colour, it is somewhere between pale pink and pale apricot.
But it 's really easy to find a space for this one, the compactness and growing habit is a real plus.

I know what you mean... it's a good workhorse of a rose but probably wouldn't miss it too much if it disappeared...   I have one very similar to that called 'Octavia Hill'.. very healthy, lovely flowers, quite floriferous all summer, but not much scent - so I plant lavender around it... but it's so accommodating, never gets in the way and perfect for lining a path or entrance.. I can't be without it just yet.. probably the easiest rose I've grown..

I have two champagne moment roses both are lovely but are hit with blackspot pretty badly.

I planted up 3x Madame Isaac Pereire last autumn...along with some DA Harlow Carr ( thorny little buggers!!)  I've planted alongside English lavender and agastache. As I like pink and blue/mauve as a combination
