@WonkyWomble I have not commented before as it is over 40 years since I did my Haematology, but I hope your OH's improvement continues. Be very careful with iron supplements as iron deficiency is not always inevitable with this condition and some treatments can lead towards the opposite problem.  As you know SCD is much more serious than trait, I am amazed that he does not have the support of a specialist team, you need to put your foot down with GP and OH and get him seen by a consultant Haematologist/ Genetics specialist to confirm his exact status. Then they can get him the correct treatment.
On a lighter note R4 book of the week is about Collingwood "Cherry" Ingram the Englishman who saved the native Japanese cherry.
    Happy Spring Equinox to all.

Woke up to early sunlight this morning and a huge fat peachy coloured moon just disappearing down behind tall trees to the west of us.  Gorgeous but flipping cold at 1C.  18C now and we've been out to buy pre-cut wood for 2 x 2m square raised beds which I may well build as one so I can move my herb bed to the gravelled area behind the kitchen so they'll be handier.

Glad you've had some rain Pat tho 36mm isn't much.   Last lap for me too FG - for this phase anyway.  More rooms to paint but not till after Easter as we have loads of content shuffling to do before Possum and her friend come for Easter and then imminent rellies.

WW - I agree.  You need to be firm with OH and the GP.  Both need to know that supports should be available and is necessary for your well-being as well as OH's.

As for blossoms, the neighbour's cherry trees have been in full bloom for weeks but are going over now.  White flowers and juicy cherries.   Our magnolia has just a few teeny buds showing but it's been in intensive care since we inherited it so I' pleased to see any.  On the other hand, the pink tree peony, also in receipt of TLC, is covered in fabulous fat buds just starting to open up with flowers that look and smell like old fashioned cabbage roses.   Lots of daffs out now and tulips too.  I love spring!

Have a lovely day everyone and big, gentle hugs to all who need one.

    Afternoon everyone!  Hello Pat, :D
Thank you Allotmentboy for your advice, I agree we need to get his status sorted, because for a lot of the time he is fine as long as we take precautions avoiding situations which bring on an attack. However if we didn't take those measures the frequency would be far more often. Also the severity of the attacks are horribly bad. I have a friend with scd and they have better treatment but were diagnosed in childhood.

Lovely to hear about blossom and buds in the gardens! I've had a lot more time to potter now I'm self employed so the garden shouldn't look as shabby as last year hopefully!

Obelixx, I like the sound of the raised herb bed, I'm wanting to do a smaller version myself for near the kitchen but it's shady in the afternoons so not sure it would work. Let's see the pictures when your done 😊
Hi Fairy, are you sure you retired and not just retained as a decorator? 😉
Have a lovely afternoon folks 😊

Hi Wonky.  Have just been out the back, pondering and would you Adam and Eve it?  The graveled area is not flat where I want the herb bed.  Flipping Nora!   That means some fiddling for OH once I've laid it out....   Will keep you posted.

Will that matter too much, Obelixx?
Lots of herbs don't need all day sun, Wonks - so maybe you can just be choosy about what you plant and where.  :)
I'm not being paid enough for decorating - that's the problem  ;)
Didn't do much today - just another coat in cupboard, put the carpet back down, and then I can put everything back in while daughter's out.
It cleared up this afternoon, so I did a little bit outdoors too. Pruned the buddleia, and a few other bits and bobs.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Needs to be kind of level as the wood comes in straight planks...........   I'm sure he can rake some out for me if needs be.  It's very chunky gravel - broken rock really - and full of weedy horrors.   There's a photo of it on google earth looking immaculate when first done - assuming your like large expanses of pinky coloured chunks with paths from fine grey gravel winding thru.   What were they thinking?

Obelixx, I'm sure what you have planned for the place will be much more up our street 😉 could we get Google earth to come back for an update pic? 😀 I'm sure oh will find gravel raking very tranquil, Monty did in the Japanese gardens 😉
Fairy, that's the trouble with working for family, exploitation begins at home! Glad your getting time in the garden when you please, weather permitting obviously! I'm getting out there much more and you can actually see a slight improvement 😊
Anyway, time to slob, gardening job tomorrow afternoon, night night all 😊 morning Pat 😀

Good morning everyone. Lovely autumn day here today. I even got a few jobs done in the garden for a change. There is rain predicted for the next two days 😊, so that’ll be good too.
Im watching the weather reports for northern Australia. Both the Queensland/NT border are expecting a nasty cyclone and they’ve been evacuating people all day, also the north west of WA has a very aggressive one heading to them. I empathise after having lost our home and everything else in Cyclone Tracy in 74.  Just hope people are kept safe.

I meant to say before Obelixx that 36mm is very good for us.😃. We only get about 450 a year.
