I was wondering about this the other day. Your post reminded me @coccinella
Can you sneeze in your sleep? We'll save you the effort of recording yourself overnight and then listening to the full eight hours in the morning.

Even if an insect crawled across your nose, you probably wouldn’t sneeze while dreaming. During REM sleep (the phase where dreams take place), your muscles are paralysed so that you don’t thrash around and hurt yourself. This paralysis extends to reflex muscle contractions, so you can’t sneeze while you are dreaming. In non-REM sleep your muscles are free to move again but the trigeminal motor neurones responsible for triggering a sneeze are still suppressed. It is just about possible to sneeze during this non-REM sleep, but the exertion will normally wake you up.

    In London. Keen but lazy.

My wife tells me I've sneezed in my sleep. At what stage, I've no idea.
Coughed, sneezed, moaned, groaned. All of these apparently. Even had seizures in my sleep - and that's been recorded by Telemetry and cameras, at King's College Hospital.
  • Usually a sneeze will wake me up, but it's more likely to be a stuffed nose that means I can't breathe that will wake me.
As for doing things in your sleep, I can get into bed slightly disturbing the hubby at which point he can hold a conversation,  but in the morning he has no idea he did.😆

My OH sometimes laughs out loud in his sleep … and the bed shakes 😂

I like that idea, @Dovefromabove . I used to sleep walk, as a child. My wife hasn't mentioned anything like that, and she should know. She's a light sleeper, so my nocturnal activities disturb her. That's why we have a bed set up in a spare room, in case of need. We've both made use of it at times.

For the science, I was sneezing while awake which was most of the night 😡
I did doze off this afternoon for an hour or so. The weather is so miserable, storm predicted in the night so I will be back here later.

I held conversations in my sleep with my eyes open, apparently. I'm told that I once planned a trip to America.

  • That's amazing @B3
I've not been able to plan a trip to the USA in my waking hours at all.
    Did you actually go?

No. Never fancied it in real life. It was my husband's thing.

  • What an active sleep life we live! 😆
