No gardening but what a glorious day. Sunshine and lots of blue sky all day, it looks like th same today. I took the dog for a much needed beach walk with my daughter. The world and his wife were enjoying the sunshine, masses of dogs and people who all seemed to be smiling. It was lovely to see. A very hard frost this morning, I might try to get out to do some clearing up, plenty to do.
@CrankyYankee , hello , would rather have snow than this heavy rain , centre of village flooded again and I’ve had to dig a trench to take sewage water to stream at side of garden
We have a foot of snow on the ground and it's still coming down. I definitely prefer snow over rain in winter, I don't know how you folks deal with those conditions. We're actually supposed to warm up well above normal on Wednesday and have a torrential rain, so we'll have a different kind of mess on our hands.

Metacomet soil with hints of Woodbridge and Pillsbury
Another glorious blue sky and sun day. However, freezing cold. At least a few of the bugs will be killed off. No gardening, too cold for me. I did venture as far as the compost heap to empty my kitchen waste bucket. I spotted a couple of hardy cyclamen in flower, a tiny spot of colour in a dank sodden garden.
Having a very productive day so far! It's the third consecutive dry day in a long time, but freezing cold. But at least its dry and the lawn isn't so soggy so I can walk on it a small amount.
I've pruned the roses, renovated Generous Gardener on the front wall, cut the old leaves off the pulmonaria, cleared some leaves and debris from the bottom corner and topped up the meal worms for the robin.
Back inside now for a warm drink and to defrost my hands. Might pop back out later to prune crossing branches from the mock orange as I find it too difficult to access in summer.
Slowly building a wildlife garden, in a new build in East Yorkshire.
Just finished digging a soak away by front drain which meet help if it overflows again , broken bricks in , need to buy gravel to finish off in due course It’s blooming freezing 🥶
Yes, did half an hour or so in the sunshine just before lunch - with four layers of clothes on! Put more plastic anti-squirrel pots over bulbs but the blighters seem to have crawled under the metal mesh I put down on the bank. Either that, or there's a vole living in the bank who also likes crocus. Walked round the garden quickly admiring various clumps of snowdrops also emerging. Photographed a beautiful Iris Unguicalaris blooming on the bank. Brushed the paving clear of leaves and debris - again.
I finally potted up some daffs that I bought ages ago it’s been so wet then now freezing cold my time in the garden has been minimal. As Lizzie27 I spotted some snowdrops just starting to peep through the soil.
Moved a decorative metal trellis forward about a foot and re-secured it to it's mate with small black plastic ties. Then I slightly pruned the Claire Austin rose alongside it and tied in some of the more pliable stems horizontally across the trellis. Half an hour in freezing, although sunny, was quite enough for me.
Sitting in my new summer house contemplating what to do once my broken ankle bone has healed. Thank goodness there is an electric heater and my gardening magazine arrived with ideas for next month.
