I’ve pretty much finished any gardening for the year now. The last few weeks have been very wet so there’s just been an the odd hour tidying and putting moving some pots to shelter for the Winter. I did leave a potted Begonia out by my chair by the back door (where I have a cuppa most days whatever the weather) and it was frosted yesterday. Oops! I have cut away the top leaves, which were mush, and brought it inside now. I think it will recover.

I leave most of my border plants to die down and provide habitat and protection until Spring so nothing to do until then for me.

I want to dig up and pot up two roses as soon as they are dormant which isn't happening yet.
I was also planning to replant potted heuchuras I'd previously divided, into the side bed but as the driveway tarmacing has been delayed so long, I'm wondering whether it would be best to wait now until the spring. The problem with that is I know there are lots of spring bulbs in that bed so it won't be easy to work around them.

I had to repot a camellia as the pot got blown over and broken
Then off to allotment , the main job there was burning 🔥 which I got done , had 2 fire bins on the go
  • I grew a baby from my winter flowering honeysuckle for my daughter which I gave to her 2 years ago. It has flourished and when I asked her yesterday if it had any flowers yet she said it has been flowering for a couple of weeks and she has been enjoying sniffing the scent. How happy that made me feel.
  • I re-set the leaf mulch on potted garlic. I had leaves held down with netting as my garden is quite windy. It did not work as it only held the wind-blown leaves to one side.

So I reset it and put some compost over the leaves to hold it down better.
Later I will put some fleece on my broad bean raised bed as it may be a frosty night.

  • Pollarding some of the willows on the boundary of the orchard. Collected some more apples for storing.

Did some leaf clearing around midday, really for the outside exercise than for anything else. There are still leaves on the nearby trees waiting to fall so there's no hurry.

A good frost this morning and didn’t stayed all day
Did rake a few leaves up at the front of the house , where the grass was in the sun

Also went to allotment for a few hours this afternoon
