We have a two year old and a four month old. I find this year I’m gardening only in stolen moments. I’m so far behind versus where I was last year, and some jobs (like the annual pruning of a Japanese Maple) have simply passed by their time undone.
Today I tied in a clematis I was worried might get damaged by wind yesterday I cut the grass for the first time this year. I’ll not get half what I want to do done this year.
Trimmed the dead wood from my Hot Lips Sage, removed a dead rock rose, am trying to salvage a couple of live pieces from it, hoping they will grow.
Aw shucks! Having rescued my remaining autumn sown sweetpea plants from being eaten by mice, I put them in the greenhouse until I was ready to plant them out. Had a look at them yesterday and a number have been munched by slugs!
Nothing today - but the last few days have done some pond repairs, split and potted an Astilbe (3 pots for me and 2 as gifts), made a display of shade-loving plants in an old crate, pruned back my Clematis Montana (a hard prune, and I may move from its pot to the ground), and numerous other bits and bobs. Next job is to plant out the foxgloves I sowed in Autumn as they won’t be long before they start to think about flowering.
Very busy at present and another wonderful sunny day, so much to do for a small garden.
Most of our main plants are still in pots.until the end of the year, we have managed to fend of the weeds and all the rubbish in the borders. and mulched the border it will be filled with mostly seedling grown this year. I have taken many cuttings from as many plants that I can get my hands on. and rescued what I think are Hellibores from a car park last year but alas no flowers.
A few shots from around the garden and the quick makeshift grow tent, home made of course, its done very well for £6
The lawn will get better with time just top dressed and overseeded with Agrostis ( Bent Grass) I wanted to dig up the original but I would get lynched if I did that, using compost Tea and Seaweed. should get the old Soil Food Web going, Chemical free here.
I welded two old 25mm uprights to a bit of flat steel and the Tarp is basically held over the top by pot plants. used some off cuts to protect the sheet.
@ Uff I have just seen photo's of your garden AMAZING.
I went out to clear 2 small spaces. Ended up moving a Lamium (dead nettle) and a Nandina, cutting back Sarcococca and the blasted snowberry. Divided and potted up some pulmonaria Blue Ensign and an unknown Michaelmas daisy. Emptied a pot of tulips. Planted a couple of Helenium El Dorado, still have a clear spot to plant up, but l've had enough for one day.

And a bit of a new hobby to keep me busy, Globes, but as quick as I make them the good lady parts with them.
