Good luck with the continued recovery @Wilderbeast

Maybe I should've said more efficiently rather than properly. There's certainly never been any heat in the Dalek before :)

Just popped out for a post-storm tidy up.

Old nest blown out of the tree sadly I guess if it was reusable. Lots of small beaches to gather.
No major damage really, just picking up things and closing up things blown open.

Will prune my giant dahlia to the ground, still has a few green leaves on it but time for it to rest methinks.

Glad to hear the fingers are mending @Wilderbeast.
We've got a bit of debris down but nothing major. Have just refilled the bird feeders, in cluding bacon rind, didn't take the magpies long to find that though. It's very wet and rather soggy out there so can't do much in the way of gardening.

  • There was debris on the path on  our walk but the garden is ok. Haven't been to the plots yet so there might be some there,  it's very open and always windy except on the most still days.

  • The silver birches lost alot of twiggy bits, not not much else here.
Glad to hear you will be looking after hoggies next year @GWRS
Too cold out to do much other than feed the birds.
  • It is very wet here at the moment so jobs are limited unless tools and oneself gets very mucked up.

This morning I went out to the compost heap this to empty my caddy that I keep in the kitchen and had a general mooch around to make sure the rain and high winds didn't cause any damage last night. Thankfully all was well. @Biglad our compost heap got a very large deposit Christmas Morning too with all the Veg peelings.

Hope your fingers continue to improve @Wilderbeast it is so awkward using your other hand when doing tasks. Glad you felt some benefit from your short amount of time outdoors, the garden can certainly be a tonic.

@GWRS you will need to let us know of any visitors to you Hedgehog House. What a lovely gift to receive.

Shredded the Amazon delivery boxes and the various other Christmas paper bits.

So that is another 100l of browns waiting for the compost bin.

Beautiful kipper and scrambled heggs for breakfast.

Teamed up with Mrs Wilderbeast this morning (rarely does this happen as I'm the doer and she's the pointer/organiser) to dig up the salvias before this cold weather arrives. Normally this is done much sooner but the mild weather has pulled me into laziness. The shed is very full now of salvias, bananas and cannas.

Planted some ox eye daisy into the orchard, pruned back some top growth of verbena to protect from wind rock. Then we started hatching plans for next year

Between us we made some single  handed jobs work with both of us, all with my bandaged hand wrapped in a plastic bag
  • Good going WB, too much frost here for any gardening.
BTW if you want show winning Onions,  you are supposed to sow them this week- just so you know 😉
