Put the plants out at 9am, by 11am they'd all gone ! (Around 30 or so). One lady insisted on giving me some money so l will add it to the charity donation. Planted astrantia "Gill Richardson", "Jumble Hole" and "Star of Beauty", also 2 hardy geraniums , a Michaelmas daisy, Penstemon "Garnet", Centaurea and moved 2 osteospermum. Potted on a dianthus and potted up 5 tiny salvia "Mecred" into one pot. Soil is so dry and starting to crack 😕.
I might do the same AnniD. I've got about a dozen pots of black opo grass I was going to replant in a front border but now don't have room because the irises have taken over the space. I really don't want to have to keep watering them so might put them out tomorrow with a donation box.
I finished pruning all the box hedges and box balls, but think I've got a box caterpillar attack on the last one - disaster! Wondering whether I should dig this one up and dispose of it before it spreads to all the others.
Decided to pot most of my dahlias today. Forecast is mild at night looking ahead and they were drying out very quickly in their starter pots. Just barely had enough compost thankfully given the current climate!
Still doing the hokey cokey. But the tomatoes are looking short and stocky. I'll be so glad to send them out into the world. Shuffled my patio plants and filled containers with compost awaiting residents. Compost is a bit /a lot weedy so will water empty containers in the hopes of dealing with the weeds before planting them up. At least they're my weeds so I know what I've got! Mostly VB, pulmonaria and purple toadflax with a bit of herb robert thrown in.
Another productive day: planted out broad beans and sweet peas. All my pea and French bean seedlings have perished in the greenhouse, slugs probably, so I'll soak a few more and sow them direct. Netted the cherry trees with a bit of help from OH; he finally found some bread flour in the CoOp this morning, so I have repaid him with three freshly baked loaves. Weeded bits of paving and cracked concrete and edged a bit of lawn. Ended the day by digging out another half a bucketful of bindweed rhizomes.
Ive given up on finding bread flour but OH seems to be able to swallow w********s s***e. I Ive been able to get cranks but I'm looking forward to making my own bread again. His redeeming feature is, he doesn't like parsnips @josusa47😉
Nearly done - don’t think what soil I have left will fill it. I will think through projects a lot more seriously in the future. But I guess you only learn by doing.
