As we're officially in Curmudgeonly mode, can I say that I fear this country is sleepwalking into a massive gambling addiction problem?
Almost every ad break on TV has some form of gambling, betting firms sponsor so many football teams and bookmakers seem to take over empty shops where they can.

The money for my funeral is in a savings plan of my own so I get the interest on it not the funeral company.

Grr, washing machine has just packed up mid cycle. Managed to drain it, everything is sopping wet. OH thinks the belt has gone (technical description). Unfortunately of all the widgets he has acquired over the years, a replacement belt is not among them.

Maybe its outlet pipe is just blocked.   Ours is 3 or 4 yrs old now and recently failed because, somehow, a whole packet of cotton buds got in with a towel wash.   Opening the filter led to a flood but didn't clear the problem so I sent OH off to find the manual.  He's kept the old one and binned the one for the new machine.  Clever.  However, he did go online and found out how to unbung it all.  The haul included a 20p coin - haven't been to the UK for 30 months.... and an old Belgian 10 cent coin which pre-dates both the Euro and the machine.   Mystery.

Then he can put it on that sure thing of KT's in the Gold Cup.... :D
Good one, KT - you need to know about the shop to make it work unfortunately.  ;)
I remember Binn's, but I dont think we had one in Glasgow.

That's a shame w/edges. I had the same with a lovely little dark sedum I bought a few years ago. I didn't have any vine weevil here, until then... :/

Opening the filter led to a flood
Pro tip (from a professional washing machine fixer who told me): tip the machine so the filter access point is at the top before opening it. Then you can usually fish out the obstructions, close it back up again and return to level and the machine will be able to drain the water without you having to empty it manually.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

At that point I was just undoing the cover and then it stuck, hence the need for the manual and the unexpected flood.  Tiled floor so no bovver.

Don't get me started on the appalling random decisions from our local councils!  Living in mid-Devon, we see a lot of wasted resources and indefensible decisions - especially when it comes to the homeless etc.
We can but do our best:  involve our local councillors, and respond positively to those "on the street".
We can rail against the tide: we can only do what helps.  Even buying The Big Issue is a step towards helping those who need our help.  Giving without making judgements to those on the streets, helps.  Caring matters.
