I also don't mind the selfscan ones now. Maybe I'm just weird  :D
well possibly, but I don't mind them either. For many years now I've being using the 'whizzywig' to self scan as I go round doing big shops in Waitrose and now also in Tesco. I often use the self scanners in shops in London train stations - the queues for manned tills are always far too long - I'd miss my train.

My (sort of) grump today was junk mail for an estate agent, offering to deal with my business in a prompt manor. I have no idea where that is.

Very rarely a queue at our favourite SM even when we can't avoid their busy times but I wouldn't self scan anyway as I go round the shop.   Quite enough to do making sure we find everything on the list and see what's new or interesting each week.   I also like the idea of people having jobs.

I don't mind self service tills in principle, it's the forever waiting for someone to come and sort the wretched thing out that makes me grumpy.

My GD didn't notice a mistake on her new baby's birth certificate and it's turning out to be a nightmare trying to get it corrected.  Feeling curmudgeonly on her behalf :(
Did they put her name down as A. Mistake? :o
:D No Dove, they put her (Bridget Megan) down as male. Not even one of those either gender type names :(

When you say " they " do you mean the parents, or the "registrar"?

The registrar Hosta. GD was asked to check names and addresses and unfortunately did as she was told rather than checking the whole thing.

Apart from being a "jobsworth", why is it so difficult to get it changed? It's pretty obviously an error.
It's not as if they've just changed their minds about the spelling, or the name.

I find it somewhat reassuring that it’s not easy to get legal ID docs changed ... but of course that’s no consolation to your family ... hope it gets sorted soon.  :)
