I hate self-service tills if I'm buying more than a bottle of milk. Someone always has to come and sort it out, usually several times.  First time when I put my shopping bags on the thingy - they don't seem to like it if I've already done some shopping somewhere else or am using a substantial shopping bag not a plastic carrier. Then when I'm putting stuff in the bag and I move something that's already in there.  Then again if I'm buying a packet of ibuprofen or a tube of glue or heaven forbid, a bottle of wine.

Will use self service tills for the 1or 2 purchase as they usually cause problems

B & Q can be funny with self service if buying slabs or other items with  no bar codes ! Just to be difficult called over assistant and she wanted me to look up code on internet , had to go to a till

Can’t remember a cashier upsetting me enough to leave a trolley of shopping thou

My problem with B&Q self-service tills is that they won't take cash.  One of the assistants told me it was because they wouldn't pay for them to be updated to take plastic notes but that seems a bit silly.  The last time I was in B&Q the lady on customer services (long story) told me they were getting new tills and getting rid of the self-service ones altogether.

I hope you're right about getting rid of the self service in B&Q.  Ours generally only has one staffed till open with a queue back to the entrance.

I agree, you see a desperate looking member of staff hanging around the self service till, while the queues at the "ordinary" tills get longer and longer. "Would you like to use the self service till ?". "No. that's why l'm stood here ". I once heard someone actually say that. Another thing that makes me curmudgeonly about B&Q is the fact that they have stopped doing the Wednesday discount on everything for the "old folks" .

In B&Q it's "no thanks, I want to pay with cash".  I hope they've got the message and it's not just a rumour or misinformation.
I hadn't noticed the senior citizen discount going (not old enough for it) but it's a shame they took it away.

Yes, they stopped doing them from last September (l think). If people already had one, it can now only be used on gardening products as opposed to everything in store.

We’ve just lost our b & q, it’s turned into a Costa, an M&S shopping hall, and a B&M. We have no DIY stores at all now.

I was in Tesco and got the ‘unexpected item in bagging area’ message. I thought ‘How do they know I’m using a Fortnum and Mason bag?’
