We now have a provisional completion date: next Tuesday.
A man with an enormous drill has just made a big hole in our bedroom wall, next to the boiler. If they don't put the pipework in by the end of today we might have to stuff it with socks overnight...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed Liri ... OH has a sock mountain if you need extra supplies ... there’s a few pigeons in the garden ... I could send some your way ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Is the sock mountain made of odd socks Dove? Yesterday my granddaughter rode one of her horses 4 days after producing my No.2 great GD. Not sure whether to be slightly impressed or feel curmudgeonly.
Couldn’t have an electric shower here, don’t like them anyway.
Years ago, when no one had showers, we had a strip wash, then stood in the bowl. baby was washed in the sink until he was too big, then sat on the draining board with a saucepan of water to rinse him down.
Dont know what my grandparents would have thought of all that water going down the drain.

I remember saying I could’ve ridden a bike after having Wonky ... not so after having her bigger older brother 🥵

Not me - footling breech and pre-eclampsia so a Caesarian.
Item on the lunchtime news pertinent to Liri's situation - they reckon gas powered hot water and cooking should be banned in homes after 2026 cos it's so inefficient and greenhousey. It seems in the UK emissions form housing actually increased last year. So much for the effectiveness of the homes insulation programme.

"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Last year was a very cold winter though. The problem with phasing out gas for cooking is showing people that you can cook just as cheaply with electric. KW for KW I think gas is about 3 times cheaper than leccy so it doesn't seem like there's much motivation to switch. Efficiency counts for a lot though but it's impossible for the average person to judge what the cost difference would be. Burning gas indoors is also terrible for indoor air quality.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
When I had the kitchen done last, I had the gas hob out and an induction hob put in. It looks like a black glass sheet and is so easy to clean. The gas hob was horrible to clean if something boiled over.
