We had double glazing put in last year and I'm ashamed to say some of the rooms were hoovered better than before they started. They cleaned up every evening before they went home.

What on earth were they doing climbing over the bedding in filthy workboots?  I bet their other halves would never allow that at home, no matter what they say. Are they British Gas employees or subcontractors?  As Dove says, keep taking the photos and get ready with the complaints procedure.

Just got back from 3 days at my daughters, looking after grandkids, during school holiday, Hubby says, he has a confession to make! He sprayed my tomato and parsnip seeds with Zoflora disinfectant instead of water!! Hope this isnt a silly question, will they be OK, or do I need to re-sow. The water sprayer is kept next to the orchids, and is transparent, the other spray is not and clearly marked Anns Zoflora, grrrrr.

We had a lot of workmen when the bungalow was being done up, they brought those blue over shoes, made out of J Cloth material,  and put dust sheets over the whole lot.

  • The workmen had those overshoes on, Lyn.  I think they put a piece of equipment down on the duvet... the boiler cupboard is in our bedroom.  They are probably getting more pay if they can finish in double-quick time!  Latest prediction is that they "may" finish tomorrow...

It’s horrible having to have major work done when you have to live in the property, I brought my parents back to stay with us and gave the workman the key to get on with it.

  • Liri- I feel for you with all that, we had a big extension over 12 years ago & I am still reminded of the trauma of that from time to time.

  • To be fair, most of the work is going on outside.  It's just that they're in such a rush that when they have inside work to do, they get a bit slapdash.  Thanks for your support, folks... complaints will be made in due course...

  • Doctors over-prescribing is fueling the illegal supply on the streets ... there are patients who beg and bully their doctors to prescribe painkillers they don’t need, then they sell them to dealers ... this is part of the reason why regulation regarding the prescribing of painkillers is being tightened up.

The trouble is painkillers very quickly stop working so more and stronger doses are needed. I watched a very good tv show where it was proved that placebos work as well or better after a time. Many painkillers have unpleasant side effects too. I wish the NHS could afford to invest in studying other ways to relieve pain without resorting to tablets all the time and please don’t get me started on medication for mental health issues!
