Nobody is perfect so, instead of judging ateenager for not thinking everything thru, maybe we can evaluate the positives.  She has spoken out, been noticed and woken up allsorts of people to the dire state the planet is in.  She has activated young and old to protest, to call on governments to change their policies and made people think about how they consume energy.

She's great.  I hope she carrries on embarrassing politicians and big business for many years to come and I hope the young who are protesting with her are heard too.
She hasn't raised anything which hadn't already been said, far more effectively, by Sir David Attenborough in Blue Planet 2.  He did it without hectoring everybody.
Perhaps she's appealing/resonating  with her own age group more than the God that is Mr Attenborough?
The more the merrier so long as the message is getting out there.

I would say that one photo of Greta scowling at Trump was worth all the effort of travelling across the world to attend a climate conference. The conference would have been ignored as another dull photo opportunity for dull politicians but made worldwide news that reached millions more people.

No.  She comes across as a typical 16 year old.  Thinks she knows everything and sulks when she isn't getting her own way.  Think 'Kevin & Perry'

I think she's great. She genuinely believes in her cause and she seems to be completely fearless. Even if I didn't agree with her - though I do - I'd admire her resolve and commitment. As I do Malala Yousafzai. It's fantastic to see young women have a voice on the world stage. They are an under-represented group in public discourse.

I just think it is fantastic that the young want to change things that clearly need changing.
We should be praising them, not slagging them off.
Perhaps losing the convictions some of us had at that age is what has allowed us to get into this mess.
My generation [ in my 60's ] has a lot to feel guilty about, or at least we should have. We are the stewards of this planet, supposedly the most intelligent creatures on it, and yet we are destroying it. The last male Northern White Rhino [ in the wild ] died earlier this year, is that not something to feel guilty about.

Think Daily Mail reading Victor Meldrew  :/  All the speeches I've seen her give have been based on solid science and quote accepted facts. There's very little of her own opinion involved. She comes across as more grown up than most of the grownups I know but the press like to belittle her and play on her age so that most people form an opinion of her based on biased media coverage rather than taking note of her actually words and actions. It's not hard to see what their motive is and where their loyalties lie.

I'm just wondering what I was doing at 16 for the greater good,.....erm Nowt!
     Am I alone in that?

    No..
To be brutally honest I didn't give a fig for the environment at 16... probably why I'm not Time magazine "hero of the hour" or whatever it is..

When I was 16 I’d been working for an insurance company for year, had joined the Young Liberals and was having a fantastic time in the adult world.
