  • Thank you @Obelixx :) Wish I could get a better shot, but I don't want to scare them off.

I'm not sure if it should be in "Reasons to be cheerful" but my neighbour makes me smile, albeit unintentionally most of the time.  He's only a little fellow and has an equally small back lawn, about 20 feet square.  For that he has a large petrol mower with rear roller, despite the fact that his lawn is mostly weed.  He always waits until it is almost dark before cutting and we reckon he does that so the grass can't see him coming.
His latest project is painting the render on the house.  He's hired a scaffolding tower so is at least doing it safely.  When he moved the tower I noticed he had left an unpainted line, about an inch wide all the way down.  I didn't say anything but a few days ago he volunteered the information that he left it that way because he didn't want to go over our paint!

As in "My pink half of the drainpipe".  I think that was a single by the Bonzos.

My reason to be cheerful (perhaps a little premature, as I haven't tasted them yet) is that I have just lifted the first of my pink fir apple spuds, and I'm impressed by the yield.  25-30 tubers, weighing 2 pounds after washing off the mud, from an area of raised bed less than a foot square.  If they pass the taste test, that's one to grow again; this is the first time I've grown them.

Given the apparent workings of his mind you could be right. :D

Amy who has Mental Health challenges made it to hockey this week end and played well.

Seeing the ladies of the team I set up 10 years ago hugging her and "arms round shoulders " was heart warming.

I admit to having a tear in my eye but a :# .for the rest of the w/e

Just put a deposit down on a gorgeous Mazda MX5 - can’t wait to whizz around our country roads with the roof down  B)

But, just for balance, having decided to stretch the finances and treat ourselves, the same day, the well pump blew up and took most of the electrics of the tank and house pump out too. Lots of tutting and head scratching from the technician and lots of new machinery required  :/
