I hope you remember to post more photos of the flower as it emerges, Hosta.

  • The big bedroom spring clean is almost over ... windows  and blinds cleaned, dressing table, chest of drawers and mirrors sorted and shiny ... potions and lotions I don’t use have been chucked :o , skirtingboards cleaned and carpet given a thorough vacuuming including the edges, bookcase sorted and a box of books ready for charity stall, and silver bits and pieces polished. o:) I’ve earned this ☕️

    Looking good, Hostafan.
Is it outdoors and how old is the plant?

Big lumps of wood falling from the sky at regular intervals. Seeing where it drops is a good guide to the spread of the canopy, much wider than we realised.

Listened to the R4 Book of the Week, War Doctor by David Nott, this morning which reminded me of someone of this Parish. Did you catch it punkdoc or is it too difficult to go through that again?
  • Yes I heard that too & immediately thought of our very own @punkdoc.

On another note entirely- oops error :# I ordered 2 new water-buts, one of my old ones was leaking & one failed repair attempt later OH said why don't you just buy a new one, didn't need telling twice. I baulked at the prices of some of them but then found another website, they had a pair of Harcostar 350 litre butts for just under £118 pounds some sites wanted that for one, great I thought get 2 new ones for home use, 700 Litres of water storage, I can use the old intact one on the Allotments. They arrived this morning didn't hear the door they were just outside when I was about to go out. THEY ARE ENORMOUS, struggled to get them in & through to the garden. Trouble is if I put them both where the old pair were I wont be able to get the back door to the utility area open. I think SD & SIL will be getting another unexpected prezzie for their garden,- heck talk about not thinking it through :/

I did not hear it, although I will read the book. I have no problems reliving any of it, I was always at my most alive when I was in some of those places, probably a substitute for something that was missing elsewhere in my life. If I was well enough, I am sure I would still be doing it.
I know David, we actually worked together once, many years ago.
    He is an amazing man.

Sounds interesting. I'm not one for listening to books, but I'd like to read it.

Currently 18° here and just glorious. I'm on my 5th bus journey of the day, as I decided a 2 hour round trip to go home for lunch was worth it. And it was. I ate and had a cup of tea sitting in dappled shade of the prunus and watching dozens of bees of many kinds visiting the blossom.

Actually, that should all probably have gone on the Reasons to be Cheerful thread :)
