@fidgetbones.  What test should men do? I thought the test was a finger inserted, what would the men need to feel for and how would they know it was cancer?

Stupid me, I am thinking of feeling lumps on testicles. For prostate cancer, the first signs are swollen prostate, the main symptom is being unable to pass urine properly. It is easily confused with benign swollen prostate which often happens in old men and can be shrunk with Tamsulosin.  G P can do PSA tests to distinguish. Men are supposed to do a regular feel of the testicles, to check for any lumps. It was demonstrated recently on morning TV(to great outcry). Any unusual lumps or changes.. see the GP.  With both problems, men are loathe to see the GP and talk about their private bits.

I would be very wary of the PSA test. Results are often not helpful, so many Drs., including myself, would never have one done.
Testicular cancer is a disease of young men, virtually unheard of after the age of 40.

And curable now Punk! I met my hubby through his younger brother. He turned out to have testicular cancer.  One of the worst times of life. He was 23.
This was all 43 years ago.  I really don’t think it’s one of the killers any longer  my hubby is excellent at being checked. We all have to do it so why not the guys? Man up chaps!
fab day here. Little ones gone up to town with mum to see family. I have been able to potter and sleep, in that order!
if the weather stays like this we will go along to Dumfries House tomorrow. Great favourite as such a terrific place. No entry fee.  Thanks HRH!

    Glorious day here in Brum

  • Sadly my daughter's boyfriend died of testicular cancer when he was 25. Strangely the only signs were a bad back and his breasts were growing but in spite of chemo it was too late.
  • I hope Pat's OH will be fine. As has been said a lot of people live with prostrate cancer for many years and I know of one or two who are living with it and are leading a normal and happy life.

    Evening.
Still fairly full from Sunday lunch here...so probably just a supper snack tonight.
Hope you’ve all had a pleasant weekend and that any worries aren’t keeping you down.
