Holidays , my idea of Hell was a flight from Birmingham Airport 2 hours 30 minutes queuing to get into the departure lounge , then a rush to get on the plane
Coming back was even worse , no toilets working diverted to Faro in Portugal 🇵🇹 to sort out problem which took several hours , was not allowed off the plane , drinks , water & food all run out
Use to like Airport and flying ✈️ but everybody to there own 😉

The only cruise I have been on was a school trip many decades ago.  We were the last cruise ship to dock in Tripoli (Libya) - and that was quite an unpleasant experience!  The places we visited - Gibraltar, Tripoli, Athens, Istanbul and Venice were amazing, and we were told about the history/geography of each place before we docked.  In between times, even allowing for the "educational" element, the only thing to look at was the sea.  And more sea.  And it was b****y boring.  I would only contemplate a river cruise - the Rhine, for example.  But it would take a lot to tempt me!  Anything that comes with "evening entertainment" has me running for the hills!

I wondered if they were Butlins with no escape, but the idea of a private balcony and a bottle of two of wine is strangely appealing. maybe the reality is somewhere in between

We watched Jane McDonald's programme a week or two back when she went to Australia, as we have a soft spot for the place. She was waxing lyrical about her cabin, and even though it could fit the cameraman, the sound guy, someone else and her, it looked a bit too poky for my liking. There is a school of thought that says it's just somewhere to lay your head, but looking at the size of the ship and the number of people on it, l know there would come a time when l would want to get away from the lot of them and l wouldn't want to feel claustrophobic while l was doing it.

Went to Butlins twice as a child aged about 6 and 7 n the late 50s.  Hated it - organised play and games and competitions and "talent" shows.  Yuk yuk yuk.  Expect cruises are the same.  No escape and horrid fellow travelers and these days you often have to fly to join them at a convenient point for their schedule.  Double horror.

Toothpaste - we buy Sensodyne cos I have sensitive teeth.  Seems to help but I buy whichever one of the range is cheapest when I need to re-stock.

WE - at least you didn't buy a bloody Dyson!

Yeah - I don't do planes either. Last holiday anywhere 'foreign' was 2007, drove to southern France. Since then it's just been the UK. Still haven't been to most of it.

Our last flight was in 2000, to Australia. Although going through the airport was a bit stressful,  it was nothing like it became after 9/11. The discussion has been made about visiting Canada, which is nowhere near as long a flight, but l am 19 years older now , not decrepit (well, not much), but just the thought of it......

Hubby want to go to Vietnam for a month for my 60th, ( I'm only 27!!!! ) I'd love to BE in Vietnam for a month, but the thought of the journeys there, and back puts me off.

I'm just old enough to remember when you were considered special if you flew, and were treated as such. Now, you're just self loading freight.

Gawd knows how,but l once won a holiday to the Napa region of California. Not only did we stay in some lovely places,  but we got to turn left on every flight. What an eye opener that was, not to mention the private lounges. Spoilt me for anything else after that.
