All instant coffee is undrinkable. Might as well stir some hot water with a brown crayon. :s

In view of the thread's original title, l saw this. To be honest, it makes me feel less curmudgeonly about our weather. I particularly like the photo of the panda in the bath.  :)

Love the picture of the guy watering his wallaby :D  I might use that as a new euphamism...

  • Don't start me on the re-formulated Gold Blend, my OH has tried every alternative as she hates the new formula and still can't find anything she really likes. WE,  she finds too much "proper" coffee upsets her tum so instant does have a place so long as you regard it as a warm drink.
This instance with GB is just one in a long line of products that have been "improved" or withdrawn after years of very stable & successful formulations. Everything from Pears soap, certain toothpastes, sugar free throat lozenges, & chapstick to list just a few off the top of my head.

I couldn't find my normal Nescafe decaf in the supermarket so got their decaf Gold Blend.  It's undrinkable and leaves a sludge in the bottom of the cup.  Quick Google search finds hundreds of complaints about the same problem.  Now I need to find a different decaf - not happy.
Agree ! It has been rubbish (undrinkable) for ages the sludge problem. Try L'Or Classic or Intense, we feel it tastes like the old Nescafe Gold Blend which we had used for years.
We tried so many instants trying to find a replacement we nearly gave up.

Sorry just realized you said decaf, but I would imagine if they do it then it would be similar recipe, but decaffeinated.

I like filter but other half does not, and I am terrible with glass jugs and the likes I gave up.

My grump, we have a new vacuum cleaner I do like it so far, (bitey swimming thing brand).
A little piece came off it the other day, even an email with photo to customer services has not helped with the mystery part.
Wracking brain to think where or what else it might have come from. Vacuum still works fine, but can't imagine anything else it has come from.

@Allotment Boy  You posted while I was composing. The L' Or seems a little more expensive but tastes better, we tend to buy a load when they do it on offer, it is fairly regularly on £4 the large jar.

Interesting you mention Pears soap Allotment Boy, l bought some last year after many years. My poor OH found it brought his skin out in red blotches.  He's never had anything like it before , and as soon as we stopped using it, his skin cleared up.

Haven't used instant coffee in 30 years.   We now have 2 filter machines - one for leaded and one for unleaded as we switch at lunchtime.   Drank Oxfam organic for years but can't find it here so we have Fair Trade Ethiopian and Lavazzo decaf.

Haven't used bar soap for decades either.  We have low allergen eco liquid hand soaps, gentle liquid shower gel and so on.

Possum is now home.  Tomato, ginger and orange vegan soup for lunch with multi-cereal and seed baguette and what does OH do?  Starts slapping butter al over his bread!  Bear of little brain or what?

Have used Pears soap all my life and have found it to be consistently unchanged!

I don't drink much coffee, just like it as an alternative on occasion, so brewing fresh isn't really practical.  I e-mailed Nestle and have had a response - asking me to return the product in its original packaging.  Very practical for a glass jar!
I have now managed to get hold of the Nescafe original decaf so bought a couple of jars which will last me several months.

We brew a pot as we need it then re-heat by the mugful in the microwave.   Never drink tea anymore tho I have the odd mint tisane.
