The police probably won't give a hoot about trespass as it is civil matter anyway.  It's like the bloke stating right to light, it's kind of law, but I doubt any one but a solicitor would give a falling fig.

    I urge caution.
I have been involved in a neighbour dispute since he moved in 4 years ago, and it has escalated to very unpleasant levels.
It is now costing me a fortune to sort out some of the issues, plus I have an upcoming court case for assault!
How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

Fingers crossed for you @p2editorial, that he thinks not only has he won the battle, he's won the war.
As has been said above, these things can escalate, and it's such a shame when you have lived in peace and harmony with your previous neighbour for so long. If anything else happens, you will find more advice on here, (some of it tongue in cheek! ). The secret is to remain polite but firm, and keep good records, but hopefully it won't come to that.  :)

Thank you so much for your kind words.
  • Best of luck Pdoc - I'm afraid I took the Chicken route and was lucky to sell - only option for me - expensive but worth it.  To wake up of a morning and know I don't have to deal with those people is wonderful.

Entirely understandable. Glad it worked out well in the end.

Me too! My NDN not only cut my hedge down, she got a tractor in while I was out and pulled the trees out from the roots, she also did the same with the neighbour’s on the other side of her, she claimed that both the boundaries were hers.

Neighbours can make your life a total misery. It's extremely sad.  :(

Take it easy p2, and be vigilant.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Unbelievable. Where do such people come from? And why don't they go back?
