@Danae dan-Ah-ee thanks . That explanation works for me.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • So if we remain then we can have a thriving economy, like Greece, Italy, Spain or France? Switzerland seems to be doing okay outside the EU!

Weve been doing pretty well inside the EU

The problem in the UK has been the taxation system ... successive governments have been elected on thd promise of keeping taxes down, when in order to have an equitable standard of living across the board those who benefit from the wealth of the nation the most need to pay more.

A large proportion of the UK population felt disenfranchised and the referendum was the nearest thing we’ve had to a revolution ...

Just back from a short break in Greece.

(A couple of photos on https://forum.gardenersworld.com/discussion/1015499/holiday-photos/p1)

I had fervently prayed that by the time we got back, Brexit would be no more!  Alas, no such luck.  In fact, not only the usual arguments did not stop but to them has been added the rights and wrongs of the Strictly result!!  O, for a variety of topic!

However, we’re still thrilled that we’d been invited to the baptism of my Godson and his Greek wife’s new baby, who came, worryingly, a little early but is now fine.

They called her Alkyone, after her mother’s mother.  So unusual and so beautiful!

I have it on good authority that it’s because of the original Alkyone that we have Halcyon days!

  • Congratulations to all concerned @Zoe P2 ... let’s hope we all have many more halcyon days to come  B)

Thank you, Dove, and yes, let's say AMEN to that.  God knows we need them.

A bit unclear and concerned, re. the above.  Reminds me of OH’s late uncle, who, from time to time, was absolutely confused about everything, including who, exactly, he or anybody else was.  However, time will tell.

I heard on the news today that Corbyn called Mrs May, a ”stupid woman”.

    Incredible!

  • I saw that Christening post earlier too and didn’t know what to think of it.  Rather perplexing.

    Re. Corbyn, look who’s talking!

Equally baffled, re. above.  However, raised an Orthodox, I find most things stated right, but I’ve never heard of the kneeling bit, although lots of Greeks from Cyprus live in north London, so it may be something they do.

As for Corbyn, I see him as the Labour believer in unicorns.

    Totally puzzled too.

Re. Corbyn, he denies that he said it, of course.  As for Mrs May, we know she’s dancing her way to Brexit.
