'....Lets look a Prorogation and who else in recent history has used it and
for what reason. John Major to stop or hide the Cash for Questions but
did anyone question the three week he used it No was there a court case
No. ...'
Isn't that simply because no one brought a court case? We have a flexible constitution that evolves over time. Precedents (as in law) get made. IF JM's prorogation of Parliament had been challenged, then maybe we wouldn't have had to have a court case this time. But that is hindsight. We used to hang people. We don't now - things change as new laws, customs and precedents take over. And different eras lead to new precedents. ALL the precedents were 'new' at some point weren't they - or else the couldn't be precedents?
Ok so we wont have to have the euro, but we will loose our veto so the poor fishermen ect. may have a harder time of it. And as for being inside to sort things out, no one has taken anything we suggested yet. So please can I have my red smarties, oil based gloss paint, fed ex animal transport back, or at least be able to use here the things passed as safe in Europe but still not allowed here. I have a headache so going to hibernate like the hedgehogs till someone sorts this mess out without throwing their rattle out of the pram.
Can we also have our neonicotinoid pesticides back? The UK voted to keep using them after all despite the clear scientific evidence that they were killing our bees. Those pesky Europeans won't let us have any fun.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Don't we still have the pound...? And unless you follow EU debates, you'll never be aware of what legislation we have influenced. But it's certain that after we leave, we will have NO influence whatsoever. I forget, but don't we have about 12% of the European Parliament? That is our influence.
Oddly - and a point most people forget - all the EU legislation that affects the UK has been taken onto our statute book. So even after a crash out, the laws still apply until they're repealed or changed. That then leaves it up to whatever government at whatever point in time to change laws that have been built over 40 years - mostly to the benefit of the working class. Car emissions are EU standards, the EU symbol on appliances etc are EU standards. If we continue to trade with the EU in commodities that they have standardised, then we will still have to adopt those standards. If we don't adopt the standards - and unless the EU changes them just for us, then we won't be able to trade in those items with the EU - I think I'm right in saying that.
