Going back to reviving veg, I keep broccoli for longer by standing the stalk in a jam jar of water in the fridge. Change water every couple of days.
    Hi SueAtoo,

I do something similar with my broccoli and cauliflower too.  I remove the plastic "casing" (unlike Sam, I'm a domestic goddess!!!), cut a very thin slice off the bottom of the stalk and place it in a large-ish jar of fresh water.  I then place it in a bright spot in the kitchen but not in direct sunlight. (no such fear today; we have snow here!)

I've never put it/them in the fridge (never thought of that) but this method always works for me very well.

Cold water seems to work wonders for veg, B3, so perhaps you'd like to try it?  Don't forget to let us know of the degree of your success??

    I know!

On Boxing Day, I mailed my grandson a birthday card (first class stamp),  hoping that it would reach its destination by January 2nd .  He phoned me late this afternoon to say it was actually received today!

    Unbelievable.

Eleven days, despite the first class stamp!  You must be furious.  Children get so excited about their birthdays and their cards!  I'm sure though that he appreciates how much you tried to get it to him by the right day.

Lately I have become rather certain that as a country we appear not to know whether we're coming or going.  Mercifully, we have COVID to blame about everything....

Thank goodness he's not one of the very young ones.  He's, actually, a young adult.  My first-born grandchild!

I think I vaguely remember you mentioning that he's a scientist?

Yes, he's a neuroscientist.  Well remembered!
