At lunch time, I popped to the corner shop (one of a nation-wide chain) to get some milk. Two checkouts working, one manned by a white person, the other by a brown one. The customers all white. The white cashier's queue had 11 white people queuing up; the other just two white teenagers.
Oh NO, we're not racists or xenophobes! Are we????
Maybe the long queue was composed of a lot of frustrated people who had only just swapped over to it as a result of finding that the two teenagers were (a) trying to buy booze but had arrived without ID or (b) presented the cashier with a card that didn’t work or (c) wanted to top up their phones but didn’t have enough credit.
I invariably join the queue that contains an Annoying Person With A Problem. And, of course, I swap queues, joining the end of a much longer one, only to find that the blockage clears and I would have got through if I’d only waited.😞
One bought several chocolate bars and the other a soft drink.
In this part of London, if you wanted only to have dealings with a white person, you would not have access to food shops, pharmacies, doctors, hospitals, council offices, postal services and deliveries etc.etc. In the supermarket queue, I'm ageist and sexist. The older female assistants, whatever their race, understand my system and don't mess it up.
Jason, an old neighbour of mine, just told me that about midday yesterday, a DPD parcel with an iPhone12 in it was delivered at his home. The name and address were correct; but, he had not ordered a phone.
A minute or two later, a man in DPD uniform appeared. Jason told him that the parcel had been
addressed wrongly. He said he would take
it back. Jason asked for a confirmation
note. He said he would get it from the “van”. Jason followed him. There was no van anywhere. He told him, “the other delivery man must’ve
taken it for nearby deliveries”, and continued to walk on. Jason followed. Suddenly he sprinted towards a
black car that was waiting for him and sped off.
Jason called the police and the iPhone company. That
was all he could do.

A parcel delivery scam
