In India, even today, apparently your class/caste matters enormously
Some time ago, an Indian couple were our neighbours. He was a psychiatrist, she was a nurse. Both were pleasant. He was a man of few words, she was a tad boastful about her life in India, especially in the absence of her husband.
I then met his cousin, who was visiting from India and clearly disliked the attitudes of her cousin's wife. However, she was very fond of her cousin. She stayed with them for several weeks and we became fairly close. When she couldn't stand her cousin-I-L any more, she told me, "In India, my cousin would not have married her. Such a thing is shameful; she's not of our caste..."
I think some people like to reinvent themselves when away from those who know their roots. Perhaps that's what the Pilates lady, or her husband, were doing.
This morning, OH and I decided to watch Love your Cottage Garden on
ITV. At one point, Titchmarsh started to explain the kind of clematis
he was planting, "The name is a mouthful, "Etoile Violette" but if
your..........Latin isn't up to scratch, purple clematis will do."
OH said, "The man is a joke," and went into the kitchen to make us some tea.
I was impressed that he even called him a "man"; at times, his vocabulary can be interesting!
I know there are very many people who truly like AT; unfortunately, I'm one of those who have never managed to find anything appealing about him. When I know he's appearing in any programme, I try to avoid it.
I have a dream that my.. children.. one day..
will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their
character
I was sitting on a bench on the Isle of Wight when he walked past me. I said 'hello' and he kindly replied. My family were really cross with me" leave him alone he must be on holiday" they said. He was obviously spotted later in Cowes as we over heard lots of people saying they had seen him shopping.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
