Thought I'd look in to "Have a Giggle" but this seems to be the politics and criticism thread :/

Newcomers to this Thread might not realize that the word "giggle" is often used here ironically, though not always.

We all giggle at things that are funny.  BUT, how many meanings has the word "funny"?

    strange

    surprising

    unexpected

    difficult to understand

    involving cheating

    peculiar

    crazy

    dishonest

    To mention but a few....

I thought you were going to give us the etymology of "giggle" but, instead, you've given us the multivalence of "funny".

Overtly and ostensibly related, of course, so I'm only pulling your leg!   ;)

Etymology, nice word!  What does it mean?

Where's Artemis when you need her???
  • Artemis is sailing around the Ionian islands.  She has friends who have... coracles!  :D
  • The word etymology, since you want to know, Helen, comes from the Greek ετυμος- meaning "true" and λογια, meaning "study".  When it relates to words, it means the study of the true (and original) meaning of words.

    Howzat!  B)
