It is hilariously hilarious ... but what is even more hilarious that he's so far up his own fundament
methinks the same can be said of most vegans.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
If the world became vegan tomorrow, the following day virtually every cow, pig , sheep , goat , chicken etc etc on the planet would be slaughtered. And it would all be the vegans' fault.

I see absolutely no reason to disagree with you @hostafan

Good afternoon everyone.  I've been lazing about today after a bad night.  It's cold here and grey and outdoors is not inviting.  The rain radar shows that Busy has had a good soaking and we may get a dribble later this pm.

OH is out at golf and I have been doing trigonometry to make a row of fabric Xmas trees for a table runner.   Tomorrow is a national holiday here so no shopping and no golf.  A good day for moving the rest of the pots to shelter before it gets colder on Friday.

I think William Sitwell has been stupid and shown poor judgement but at least he's resigned without any fuss - unlike a lot of politicians and business people caught making mistakes that really do affect the quality of life of many others.    Really, have we all lost our sense of humour to the alter of being PC now?

No altar of PCness here ... but I do value a bit of good old-fashioned commonsense.  As you say, at least he had the integrity to go before he was pushed ... but like so many of his ilk it'll actually make little difference to him ... the less privileged have to be a little more circumspect when they open their mouths/hit the send button.

No criticism of anyone who chooses, for whatever reason, not to eat meat/dairy/CocoPops or whatever ... just don't assume the moral high ground.

It's totally illogical for vegans to claim moral superiority to lions and tigers and other carnivores/omnivores of this world ... we're all fellow members of the animal kingdom.

As a veterinarian, why would you?

I think Dove's comment was aimed at those who do, little reasoning that if we all gave up meat there would be no more pigs, cows, sheep in the fields except maybe an occasional eccentric rare breeds zoo.  Our landscape would be drastically altered too.

Absolutely not referring to you @diana 1  ((hugs))  ... nor to any others who choose, for whatever reason, not to eat meat.

Just talking about those who make a judgement about me because I do choose to eat it.

We have had more in the way of drizzle than proper rain.

I eat meat, my sister doesn't, each to his own, live and let live. But I do wonder what would happen to all the farm animals if everyone became vegan, Hosta would be right. People by nature are omnivores so meat eaters shouldn't be made to feel guilty. Some people are lactose intolerant, just as some can't eat gluten.

Went down to the village this afternoon. First to the Mairie to complain. Their handyman decided to repair our drive, which belongs to the Mairie and it's a public right of way. He spread big stones on it, it was dangerous and I had to rake a load off. I took 3 of them in a carrier bag, really heavy, to show the Mairesse. Then I went and weeded, pruned and tidied 1st OH's grave in the cemetery and put a yellow chrysanthemum in a pot on it. They will be having a service in the graveyard in the next day or two with the local priest.

While I was in the village, daughter 2 rang. Her old farmhouse has been invaded by cluster flies. Her OH bought fumigation from the farm shop and now the house isn't livable in, stinks and flies are dropping dead all over the place. So they are coming here. They are about 1h20 from here.

Yikes  :#  Hope that clears soon BL.  :/
We've recently dropped the amount of red meat we eat, for the reasons you gave Diana. My youngest was having cramps etc after eating it. She also seems to have an intolerance to dairy. We still eat chicken/turkey /pork etc. It's just coos that don't like her!  :D
All this has been a recent development, so we've been substituting, and I'm finding it no problem. I can take or leave red meat anyway, and I dare say it's better for our general health.
I think anyone in a position that stupid man was in really needs to think before they press send. We all know how easily emails go to the wrong recipient. However, yes - he at least had the decency to do the right thing, unlike many others. That cretinous excuse for a human being, Philip Green,  springs to mind. Remind me again someone, why he isn't in jail for theft? Or for that dreadful haircut....
A manky sort of day here, although the sun came out for a few hours, and it just squeaked into double figures.
Good little drive with daughter, and awaiting our turkey bolognese [see above comments  ;) ]
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
