Pa used to wear things like that inside his wellies @Hostafan1 ... he said they really helped.
We've been to W'rose and emptied the shelves
I started wearing them when I first worked in the garden centre in Scotland when I first left school and have never been without a pair ( or two ) ever since. Good news on the Waitrose front .
At least back in the day Pa's winter socks were woollen, not nylon/polyester or whatever modern socks seem to be made of. As long as woollen socks are dry they will keep you warm, especially if you use those 'socklets' over them.

Last two times I’ve been to Morrison the shelves are already empty, Roland think it’s a ploy to get people to buy more, Oh dear they’re running short of so and so, better buy what’s left! I came back from there last week with at least 3 essential items missing and to buy different brands in others, or is Morrison in delcline?
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
The shelves in W'rose weren't empty until we'd been there ... it was us that emptied them (well, nearly)
Hope the black panther leaves @Fairygirl alone ... that would be a lot of cat poo in her garden!!!
A very early morning a few years ago I saw a black panther in a field alongside the A1 just north of Grantham .... absolutely amazing. No doubt it was a black panther ... it was walking in a field of straw bales (the old fashioned type) so I could guage the size quite easily.

Just realised I didn't post on here this morning... been busy pottering in the kitchen, making stock, a pork & leek stew for lunch and doing some (rather overdue) cleaning.
It's another lovely day so I really need to spend a few hours in the garden - lots of leaves to clear, and a few more bulbs to plant, too.
@Hostafan1 - I'm with you on the "pigs in the trough" aspect to being an MP. I have a friend who's a local councillor, and even that job takes up more hours than she has available... if you're representing your constituents, surely that's worth putting all your energies into?
@diana 1 - hope you get everything sorted ready for the storage box. Sounds a useful item, and one you can take with you when your house finally sells.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I better tell OH not to go to Waitrose then, Dove! He's in our Norfolk cottage now, I'm still in France. He's supervising the carpet fitters, sitting room and bedroom in the new cottage. Then he must fetch the curtain material for the dining room. I can't get to Norfolk until early November. School holidays here, son and family are coming to stay on Monday and I have various other commitments, apart from not being able to pay the house sitter too often.
I know how you feel, Diana, my house in France is on the market. Very few viewings. Wish I could sell it and downsize here, then I would be better off and could go to Norfolk more often. My partner sold his French house and wanted to live in England. So do I but all my children are in France. Thought we could manage some of both but Brexit looks like making it very difficult.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I wonder if the panther will be like the 'tiger ' that was reported up north a while back. It turned out to be a cuddly toy.... Some red faces were involved there Think those shirty goldfinches and the stroppy robin might just about see off a panther, Dove Didn't have time to check in here first thing as I believed that nice weather man on breakfast TV, and the Scottish one, instead of believing my Met Office one online, and went to put the washing out. Needless to say it's been ferdiddling virtually all morning, and only drying up in the last half hour. Hey ho. There was some lovely pink streaked sky this morning, but by the time I went and got the camera it was already going. My bulbs are coming within the next hour - hurrah. I will hopefully finish my new display shelf above the storage box, and get things planted in all the little pots. Have to get my mane cut first unfortunately. HHog - that's a great view you have. Do you get a lot of salt water damage in the garden, or have you planted accordingly? Hope Moira is ok doc. Plenty of tlc for her Wonder if people enjoyed using the A83 again. Nine days it was shut. I must post a link here for people to help with a scheme for regenerating red squirrel populations.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Aaaargh! I'd missed that Moira has been poorly again @punkdoc ... please give her a virtual ((hug)) from me ... my former boss had similar probs until they removed her gallbladder ... huge improvement for her
Forgot to say, we sat in bed this morning with our morning mugs and watched a heron land on the roof across the way ... then he flapped a few yards and perched in the top of the swaying eucalyptus ... a great sight to start our day

Afternoon all. I've been venting my frustrations by letting the chainsaw loose on some sh*tty willows to open up a view of the lake. Topgrowth mostly cleared away and it's looking better already.
