Many years ago we had a back boiler in the lounge with a gas fire in
front. It was "bulletproof." We had a service contract wiith British
Gas. One year they came and told me they could no longer service it as
it was too old and I'd have to have a new boiler.
.
Me too, only mine was a gas boiler, two years running the same so called engineer walked into the garage set his bag down shook his head and said the boiler was too old to service, each time I told him it was working perfectly, which it was.
Second time he tried it on I did not renew with BG, it is still going!
I was told they were pressurized to say same, besides they got £200 per new boiler installed!

What changed with British Gas was that at one time there were two divisions.
The sales team that wanted to sell you a new boiler.
The service team who wanted to keep your boiler working as it kept them in jobs.
Then someone at GG must have said, "Hang on a minute...."
