I've had a couple of emails recently claiming that they have copies of videos I've filmed on my webcam (don't have one) and demanding quite a large sum of money in bitcoins to delete them. I know the world has become a very strange place but I do wonder how many people are really in a position to fall for this one!
I have to say that the spam filter on Yahoo mail stops me seeing any of these.. I almost feel I am missing out. I do remember I used back in the day to get a lot of "enlargement" emails, I always wondered how they would manage that, but then I realised 30% of 0 IS 0.. so they were not lying! (I'm female)
I used to get a lecture from my daughter about karma, apparently these people are just trying to earn some money to get by.
I'm polite but firm with people selling stuff, doing surveys etc on the phone ("thanks but no thanks" usually), but I have no sympathy for scammers or people working for them, who must have at least some idea that they're trying to rip people off.
My nan used have long chats with home improvement sales people then when they were getting to prices she would say "I'll just get you my landlord's phone number". They would disappear pretty smart then.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
If you get a call and its obviously a scam you can see how long you can keep them on the line. My record is 12 minutes. I ask if I can go and get my glasses and other stuff and then leave the phone on the table and go and put the kettle on.
I have always wanted to have the courage to utilise a reply that someone in the US used
When the caller asked for him by name he says that the householder had been murdered and he pretended it was an active murder scene with photographers working. He asked if he could come and interview the caller at his place of work as he obviously knew the deceased very well "implying " that he was a police officer
I have checked with a police officer friend and it is probably illegal to impersonate a police officer.............but sometimes I am SO tempted
Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.

You should post a description on this site alerting others to the scam.
