I just say, "Thank you for letting me know. Goodbye. " No need to descend to their level.

Scam callers pretending to be Microstft aclling about some desperately dreadful problem they've detected on my computer get a response along the lines of "Really? Which one?  If you tell me the MAC address of the affected computer and I'll get it booted up and call you back." They invariably hang up at that point.

  • My wife usually answers the phone and with calls like this she just says, "We haven't got a computer." There's not  much else they can say, is there?
    Are you feeling ok?
Do you realise you have actually replied with out posting 14 photographs of your garden?

I'm feeling fine, you seem to be the one with the problem,  making such a  childish  post.

    Grow up!

Why is that a childish post,  it’s true,  nothing wrong with the post or the poster.
surely you can find half a dozen photos of telephones,  restored ones maybe.

    You want phones?

    Happy to oblige.

Have you any more pointless "texts?"

Yesterdays scam was about my gas boiler maintenance contract.  Because I hadn't claimed for the last 12 months I was going to get a special deal.  Not half as special as I get off my brother though.  I don't think the lady on the other end liked it when I called her a lying scamming B***.

Even reputable companies try it on.

Many years ago we had a back boiler in the lounge with a gas fire in front. It was "bulletproof." We had a service contract wiith British Gas. One year they came and told me they could no longer service it as it was too old and I'd have to have a new boiler.
I told them, "Well stop taking the money each month." Suddenly, it became serviceable again. Two years later we changed to a combi, but not from British gas.

"You can't buy a more expensive boiler."

Ours was installed at "mates rates" by golfing pal who is a gas heating engineer.
